1) Voodoo 3 2000 PCI, got my old Pentium 166 with 32mb to play games, so it must have been good 2) nVidia TNT2 M64, came with my folks' computer, pretty slow but lasted for a bit before... 3) nVidia GF4 Ti4200, used it for like a week before I sent it back (artifacting) 4) ATI 9500 Pro, fantastic card especially once I fitted a VGA Silencer, which gave me a massive overclock. 5) ATI X800XL, bought after a bit-tech review and it served me very well - I still have it in a box somewhere 6) nVidia 8800GT, great card - bought one of the second batch into the country and its crazily fast, even though I'm now gaming on a 24" display
I would guess that's where point nine comes into play. When overclocked those children really need to eat, and concidering todays food prices I can imagine your bills run upwards continually.
GeForce4 MX 440 with AGP8X.... To me it was the best thing since sliced bread ATI Radeon 9200SE128 AGP....Quit out of games hated it Geforce 5200Ultra (I think Ultra) AGP 256MB thought it was great until you raise the resolution with serious slow down but I still thought it was good...Kept staring at the box! Another ATI card can't remember the model but I hated that one as well because only some games worked 6600GT in SLi came my way for some reason loved it to bits. 7600GT SLi not much point in upgrading wasted my money. 8800GTX SLi… Could not believe the performance boost of one card over two 7600GT’s for the price paid. Next video card will hopefully make the 8800GTX look like an AGP card.
very first was somthing like Cirrus Logic 1MB ISA --> GeForce MX 440 --> GeForce 3 Ti --> GeForce 6600GT --> X300 --> GeForce 6600GT For some reason I’ve been up and down on the upgrade path. Haven’t gamed enough this year to warrant me upgrading the 6600GT.
ill list my mates graphics tree for him... GF3 200 (or somthing like that) GF 7300LE GF GO 8600GT (laptop)
As far as I can remember it was: nVidia TNT2 Riva thingy ATI 9200 (for a week) ATI 9600XT (loved that card) nVidia 7800GT (my longest card yet) nVidia 8800GS (cheap, but I like it)
I used to have an Amiga 500 and then a 1200... used to love those, its how i started my gameplaying career... all those disks and the noises the disk drive used to make... kinda like a distored sheep from what i remember...
I think this is the complete list of graphics cards I've had in my personal system... S3 ViRGE Voodoo 2 SLI Voodoo 3 3500TV GeForce 2 GTS 32MB GeForce 3 64MB Radeon 9700 Pro 128MB Radeon 9600 XT 128MB (for benchmarking) All-in-Wonder 9600 XT 128MB All-in-Wonder 9800 SE 128MB (softmod to 9800 Pro) GeForce 6800 GT 256MB GeForce 7800 GTX 512MB Radeon X1950 XTX 512MB GeForce 8800 GTX 768MB And I'm probably upgrading to a Radeon HD 4870 (or two) soon.
GeForce MX 440 (went through 2 of these) nvidia 6200le*gone*=[ radeon 9600pro*still got nvidia 6600gt*died* nvidia 7300gt*still got* nvidia 8600gt*still got* HIS 3870 *which is what im using today* hopefully soon a nice new 4870 but not until august =]
Voodoo 3 Nvidia Sparkle Geforce 3 ti-200 Nvidia XFX 7800gt Nvidia BFG gtx260 Probs should have gone with ATI for this gen, but ive become abit of an nvidia fanboy without realising it, never had any trouble with theyre cards/drivers
I think you're the first 260 owner I've encountered. The price/performance of the 4870 has made the 260 seem to vanish from hardware forums. It could still be contender though, I'm predicting a big price drop in its future.
Cirrus Logic ISA? 2Mb (onboard) ATi Rage Pro Turbo AGP 8Mb (I think, onboard) nVidia GeForce 440MX PCI 32Mb ATi Radeon 7500 64Mb AGP ATi Radeon 8500 64Mb AGP nVidia 7300GT 256Mb PCIe nVidia 8400m GT 128Mb AGP (Onboard, laptop, current) Next PC will have nVidia 8800GTX 768Mb, as soon as my laptop sells! Thats from '94 to present, one missing before 7300GT because I forgot what it was, must've been crap if the 7300GT was an upgrade tho!
ATI Rage 2C 4mb rock Voodoo 2 12mb Geforce 4 MX440 64mb ATI 9800 PRO ICEQ 128mb Nvidia 6800GT GLH Edition (running at Ultra speeds) Nvidia 8800GTS 320mb Hopefully gonna get an ATI 4870 in the coming weeks
Voodoo I Voodoo I SLI (second one something like £5?) Voodoo 2 Voodoo 2 SLI (I think I paid £20 for the second one ) Geforce 2 MX (great little card for its time) Geforce 3 Ti 200 I think next up was an FX 5xxx mid end card but I'm struggling to remember. I can remember it was a good Directx8 card but a very poor directx9 one. Gainward 6800GT "golden sample" agp (artifacted, locked up at its supposed out of the box overclock.. RMA'd, 6 months later returned with a fan changed but still artifacting, locking up, refunded by retailer.) 7800GT - current. Waiting on BIT's reviews of the new cards, but just spotted the first post price drop 9800GTX for £129 on scan .. tempted!
Cirrus Logik 1MB (VESA) Hercules Stingray Pro 2 MB (PCI) Diamond Monster 3D 4MB (PCI) Matrox Mystic 220 (AGP) Matrox G400 (AGP) Geforce 2 GTS (AGP) Geforce 3 TI 200(AGP) Radeon 9700 Pro (AGP) Geforce 6600 GT (PCIe) Geforce 8800 GTS GS (PCIe) Bought but never used (exept to see if they're okay): Diamond Monster 3D 2 (PCI) 3Dfx Voodoo 3000 (AGP) 3Dfx Voodoo 5500 (AGP) Still got them all on the shelf and every single one is working!
I wonder if anyone here has ever had those multi-GPU 3dfx cards. And if someone still has a working one. Pardon? Is that a game or something or do you mean they failed always? My one is borrowed from a friend (but I forgot to return it) so I didn't actually buy it... My one is still working fine anyway and yes it really sucks in performance!
