Some guy a few doors down from my house was shining a green laser pen thing... it was a long range pen and looked cool. Any ideas what it could've been? I want one
They eat betteries faster than red's too (which must be because of the diode being less efficient because although green photons are of higher energy the eye is much much more sensitive to them than red ones, if you take a green and a red pointer of the same intensity the green will lookabout twice as bright as the red - the reason ccd's in digital cameras double up on green pixels btw *). Rob. *longest ()'s in the world ever!
good lord cheese.... the bit you were backing up was longer than the statement.... but me wanty green laser.... i wander if they will ever be used on weapon alignments or would they give away the source to easily (the beam being visible in air like the fog effect with reds*) Js. *resonable ()'s thing in the world hehe
You've never seen a gun with a laser sight? Think there are some big ass american bombers with big lasers built in the front too Rob.
The green lasers *do* look a lot better than the reds. A red laser pen gives you an itty-bitty dot where you point it, a green shines a beam Very impressive when you see them. The guy who organises the fintfrag lan has one of these, not seen them on sale before though. NEED!
I have never used one, how well do the track back to the device. I am designing a signaling device for packpackers. I am thinking it could aimed into the night sky for helicopters or planes to see.
ThankYou for reviving a 4year old thread. Welcome to the forums but please please read the date of the last post!
Sorry, I did a search and then posted in it. I thought that was better than starting a new thread and having someone yell at me to use the search function. I did not want to start on a bad foot but I guess I did anyway. Sorry.
LOL.. back in that time you could only buy them on thinkgeek for 120USD. Now you can buy them on ebay for 20.. Theres a company that makes 100mw+ ones now.. they have a key and everything with security on it because they are so dangerous.. Mind you, they do cost near 1000USD
It's no stress, Fox. FYI: Green lasers are pulsed at 10kHz, not continuous like red lasers. /fact of the day
That's a little general Bindi! It may be true for frequency doubled laser pointers but it isn't true for all green lasers - mine's Nd:Yag pumped and is CW ...and I didn't vanish, you'll see my name on the logged in list often, I just do more reading than writing these days, old age and all
