Despite the fact that this is sure to set off another round of Muslim bashing, I thought it was interesting to see how people are integrating tech into daily lives.

And when you think about it, is it really any different from donating $450 worth of hamburger? Amazing how distant we are from the reality of where our food comes from.

i must agree with cthippo, i cant really see this as any different from giving a homeless guy a burger, aside from they dont pre-cook theirs. it is cool to see it available online, especially that you can watch it being slaughtered, they must have some pretty impressive machines sat there to be able to feed a few hundred high-motion live feeds all at once.

"and even watch it being slaughtered"

Steve Buscemi: Just cause people wanna eat the burger doesn't mean they wanna meet the cow

While im all for muslims being allowed to carry out there religious beliefs, i find it just a little bit sick that they can watch it on a live feed. It's a little bit sadist. I know i might seem a little hypocritical being a meat eater, but i couldn't eat something after i had seen it was slaughtered rather than its life being ended in a painless and humane way. Its just a tad on the snuff side.. Just my 2cents

Not at all, i'm with you. I sure as hell dont want to see my burgers running around the field before being led to the slaughter BUT this is a bit different.

One of the main requirements of the halal killing is that it MUST be performed by hand no machinery can be used. As such these butchers will have a fair few animals to slaughter at that time of year. If the processed is screened (and i'm sure it cant be easy watching an animal die) you can be assured the animal was killed in the correct way that satisfies the religious requirements. I don't think there's any snuff intended :)

It's not hard to see a deer or elk die...and eat it after butchering. I know where my meat comes from.

Its different for someone who lives in a city I guess. I have had chicken that I saw running around a few hours earlier in the day, if you live on a farm or even a rural area then that stuff dosent really phase you.

The whole broadcasting it on the web thing is a little crude though.
