next you'll be telling us that you will be educating people in proper english (The Barnsley / Yorkshire way)
Black shrink Wrap, no need for tape and looks awesome with a message written in silver/gold pen on it!
I just tend to wrap paper round things and hope it clings on. The disadvantage of that is you can pretty much guess what the present is without opening it. Hate toblerone wrapping as you either have to go with it are buy two to disguise them
As my supervisor has said on many occasions, "I know many Chinese/Malaysian students with better English than you"
Wrapping clothes is easy, wrap loosely in tissue paper, throw in bag, fill bag with more tissue paper! Wrapping boxes and stuff I really dislike. I always start optimistically but once I have it half done I realize the corners and edges look crappy and I can't be bothered to fix it.
I don't care about spelling to much on a forum either as long as i can just about read it, it's all good. as for wrapping had plenty of practice.
I don't care where you are, who you are or where you're writing it, if you don't bother to write English properly, then you either can't or are a lazy ****. It takes 10x more effort for me to write something in poor English than to just type it properly. Thanks to the advent of smartphones with QWERTY keyboards, I even text message in proper English now. It's not difficult guys. I do my best to help those who make spelling and grammar mistakes on bit-tech, to make it a more readable forum. It irritates me if you just "don't care" and don't make an effort to write properly. Frequency feeds habits, and typing in improper English is an extremely bad habit to pick up. Anyway, on topic: My wrapping is passable. I'm no expert, but I can hold my own for the few times per year that I have to wrap presents.
Unicorn it is not your responsibility to improve everyone's spelling/grammar, just give it a rest now. It is getting annoying, it is a public forum after all.
Who cares if it irritates you? It's an internet forum. People dont have to type in any particular way. We all have different standards and what is acceptable English to one person may be different to another. I dont care if people type without correct grammar or spelling; it's their choice and not something YOU can change. I think some people just like causing arguments for nothing at all.
No, I won't "give it a rest". And Who said anything about responsibility? I said I do it to try and keep the readability of the forum at a high standard. Thanks, I think I am going to have to start and do the same. Apparently some people don't like correct use of English. That says it all really. Who cares if it irritates me? I do. And for your information, it is something that I can change. I've been doing so since 2006. Sorry, who are you again?
I'm someone who doesn't try and be an internet daddy, unlike you. If you've been doing it since 06, good for you. You're doing a great job .
*slaps everyone* Stop now? It's clear some people are just can't be bothered about their English, and the way I see it? Leave them to it in most cases, it's not going to do them any favours in the job market, and it then makes it easier for me to acquire a job.
I have little respect for people that have poor spelling and grammar unless they have dyslexia or another similar issue. It isn't hard to get it right, we are all supposed to be grown ups! As mars-bar-man said, it shows the level you operate at and if you can't be bothered to string a sentence together properly then I very much doubt that you will go far in life.
Is being foreign, never learning english in school and never living in a english speaking country a good excuse ? (because i am such person).
Yeah, of course, but this is an internet forum and not a job application form. I agree that if everyone typed in 'phone text' style, it would become annoying very quickly. But very few people do that and what people have been criticised for in this thread is simply misusing an apostrophe, even though everyone knew exactly what the poster meant (at least I would like to think everyone did). That is petty IMO, and especially the way Unicorn pointed it out - ie saying 'copy & paste please' in a sarcastic and condescending manner. That is just point scoring and not trying to help someone out.
