Xbox 360 GTA 4 any good

Is the game actually as good as Gamespot and IGN say it is.

 

In my opinion, GTA4 is a bit let down by it's own marketting.

Its an absolutely awesome game - don't get me wrong. I love it. However, if you read too much into the whole "This game will change your life" / "This game is better than Jesus" / "This game is better than anything out there ever" hype that seems to be plastered over every bus stop or magazine for the last couple of months, you might be a little bit disappointed.

The best advice I can give really is to rent the game from Blockbuster / Amazon Rentals / LoveFILM, and see what you think before deciding whether to buy or not. Either that, or do a true "Niko Bellic" and jack a car, crash it through Tesco's front doors, grab a copy of the game (gunning down whoever gets in your way), speed away from the scene of the crime, and barricade yourself in your room, seeing how much you can play before the police burst through the windows.

And whoever said games don't inspire violence...

 

Yes is the answer. Its not perfect, but it is an awesome game.

 

I'm enjoying it but I've never played a GTA game or GTA style game before, graphically the game looks a bit average IMO and frame rate is not stellar but its a good romp with nice bits of story fed to you via cutscenes with some pretty decent voice talent etc. It does seem to have quite a lot to do in it.

 

The game was overhyped in my opinion, but is still good to play. It's a good job your buying for the 360 as the PS3 has some horrific frame-rate issues atm.

hype ruins games. u just have to try and ignore it or take it with a pich of salt and make up your own mind

I can't say I've ever experienced a game 'ruined' by hype. If you don't buy into the hype then you've got nothing to lose, simple really.

 

OFT its an awesome game simple as, they were always going to build it up to be the best ever though wern't they?! But it is honestly the best game I've played on the 360

 

just think theres more chance of being let down by a mediocore game thats really hyped than a medicore game that hasnt been hyped

 

It's ace.

The feeling you get after shooting several rozzers on the way out of a building and then climbing in an ambulance to get away, then dumping the ambulance as it's too chuffing slow and finding a fast car and waiting for your accomplice to climb in, can get intense (Cover Blown mission).

 

It's a really good game, and well worth the buy. YOU WILL BE ENTERTAINED.

Disappointing really, compared to San Andreas they took so much out of the game.

I liked it, although I "only" played it for 15ish hours at a friend's.

My opinion: No, the games poor, much prefer GTA 3 and Vice City, i felt it needed to be a different city, not Liberty again.
