    Confirmed! :D

In 2005, Rockstar will bring a brand new iteration of
Grand Theft Auto to the highly anticipated PSP™ handheld entertainment system. This landmark title will be set in Liberty City and is being developed by Rockstar Leeds in conjunction with Rockstar North.
Stay tuned for much more information, including release date -
as well as first look media.

I wonder what style it will be. Bird's eye or 3rd Person. Hopefully, the later.

Can't wait to see some screenies. I want to see how they adapt it for the PSP. The PS2 can't even handle GTA:SA.

Yeah they announced they were making it ages ago but there's been no details about it. It's being done by a different pat of Rockstar to those who did the last 3 so I'm guessing it wont be quite the same as the ones on the PS2.

The problem with GTA is that it needs to constantly access the disk so that it can display the huge 3D areas. If they use the same method with a PSP that battery isn't going to last very long.

I think they will do it top down to save on battery life or maybe even something completely different that hasn't been done before in the GTA series.
