I just picked up Vice City in a Steam sale, and have two questions; I enjoyed this game on PS2; the keyboard/mouse thing isn't really working for me. Has anyone gotten this to work using an Xbox 360 Windows controller? Everything Google throws up looks really half-arsed. Has anyone got a Steam-compliant save game for Vice City or know how to convert save files between the normal PC version and the Steam version? I've played this game through about five times now, and can't quite be bothered to start again from the very beginning. Thanks in advance!
I never owned a PSanything so I got pretty used to GTA on Kb&M Vice City was a revelation, one of the first two games (the other was Max Payne 2) I bought for my laptop, the jump from a 450mhz P3 to the !.5ghz celeron was unbelievable!
I used the wired 360 controller when I installed san andreas on my netbook and it worked fine. I would imagine it would be similar in Vice City.
Mouse and keyboard were the way to play GTA when Vice City came out. I played this game for so long, completed it so many times (as well as III) and hacked and modded it so much that I probably know it just as well as the Rockstar team who wrote it What an incredible game for it's time, and what a fantastic deal it was on steam yesterday! I bought the RStar pack
Thanks, I'm giving KB/Mouse a shot and we'll see how it pans out. Meanwhile, a very nice guy on the Steam forums posted a 100% completion save game, which means I can alternate between slogging through the missions AGAIN and just playing for fun. The only issues involve the frame limiter, which must be 'on' or the savegame won't load. Does anyone know how to set VSync on this one?
Ever heard of Xpadder? you can profile any controller to act like a keyboard and mouse. I do it with all my games and it works great.
Hmm. Will Xpadder interfere with the normal operation of the controller in my other games? I only really want it to affect GTA VC (and III, since I've just bought that too). Can you set it only to kick in in certain games? Also, if I use a controller for the PC versions, do I get autoaim back or not?
Any one got a mouse issue where the sensitivity slider only adjusts the x-axis? I have and it's driving me mad as i can't aim.
If you have XP then there is some file you can download to fix it but if you're on 7x64 like me it dosen't work.
