Pwned, to be honest. First he keeps the bonnet open so that the starting flames can get plenty of air convection to feed them with oxygen, then he uses his puny extinguisher on the smoking dashboard rather than the obvious source of the fire in the engine bay, and then when the fire spreads to the cabin, he leaves the doors open so that those flames, too, get plenty of oxygen to grow in. A chav and his GTI are soon (de)parted...
Fire fighters always recommend to keep the bonnet closed in an engine fire, the main reason being that opening the bonnet can actually cause the fire to flare up. The firemen usually fight the fire by spraying halon extinguishers through the radiator grill, then open the bonnet to spray foam. As an aside, don't be tempted to buy a car fire extinghuisher for use indoors: halon is not good indoors (can't fight fires when you've just suffocated)...
He probably recently got the car and thought he would record some action clips of it. I did find that a little dodgy that he had a camera though.
I'll assume you're in the US? You can't buy Halon in the EU anymore. If you've got a green extinguisher, get rid of it.
More plausible than someone deliberately torching his maxxed-up Golf Mk.4 GTI for a internet video clip.
It looks to me like the fire was started by power steering fluid leaking onto the exhaust; if you catch it early the car is generally ok. If he'd actually tried to extinguish it when it first started he could have stopped it.... probably wanted the insurance payout for another car
Thats pretty bad luck. TBH tho why the hell did he not try and put it out when it was a small fire, theres a bunch of (what looks like) houses across the road, all he had to do was fill a couple of buckets up with water and it probably woulda done the job. And like everyone else has said, why not close all doors and the bonnet to restrict the oxygen. It almost looks like the guy has decided to to give up too early and let it go up in flames, his attempts to stop the fire are extremely poor Edit:\ Whats the story behind them shooting that Lion, why the hell couldnt they use a friggin tranqualiser. The guy cant even hit it when it's stood still 50meters away. It would be better if the guy got ripped to shreads, killing an animal for fun is so pointless. Yer high five dude... yer **** off
There was one in the conservatory which was like over 20 years old, decided to have a bit of fun with it (outside of course) until the container ran out Even After 20 years I think the gas would still be pretty effective as it was freezing cold. I've seen a similar fire just outside Cardiff back in January, a couple of cars in front caught fire, and within seconds the car was filled with smoke, about 15 seconds later the car was in flames. So often, you might not have enough time to exinguish the flames, although in this case you probably could by not opening any doors (other than getting yourself out of the car).
pff chavved up car, hardly.. I would love a car like that, ovbiusly not burnt to crap tho. I'd sell the pointless dials on eBay and on my way I go Didnt like them tails shooting that lion mind, i hope some of them got eaten after woods.
yes i agree, the best thing that could have happened there was the lion ripped the erses head off and he shot one of his idiot mates.
