I just downgraded from a 470 to a 460 and there is very little difference... overclocked to 900MHz, the 460 beats the stock 470. I'd say the jump to a 570 would be reasonable, but not a substantial "upgrade" so to speak... certainly not worth the cost, unless you are getting it really cheap.
Are you noticing a performance issue with games on your current resolution? Is the purchase about performance issues or just for bragging rights and the good feeling about owning something new/shiny for your pc? The 460's should be handling all games at most resolution settings for a while to come yet unless you have upgraded to a massive new screen?
http://bf3blog.com/battlefield-3-system-requirements/ On the screen res the gtx 460 should allow you to achieve this...but its a bit of a unknown till the game actually comes out...coupled with the rest of your system on how cards will handle it... 28th oct for BF3 release --- i would wait it seems that waiting will only be to your advantage to stop what may be a un-necessary upgrade in the first place allowing your to spend your cash on upgrading something else or if you do need to upgrade to run bf3 at max settings the card your looking at buying maybe cheaper a few quid cheaper by time the game is released.
