so I got a 2nd hand 460 ( maybe from here ) but it has developed an annoying amount of capacitor whine ( I think ) when my friend plays metro, he has a young kid ( of 6 months ) and the noise is loud enough to wake the child so I must ask is there any cheap way to fix the whine coming from the card ? ive tried under-cloking it a little and it did help a little and boosting the fan speed but Ive not had much dealings with whine to know how to properly fix it
Does it do it regardless of FPS ? All of my nVidia cards have a loud whine when the FPS goes through the roof, for example in menus or cutscene videos. Setting a frame limit or just enabling V-sync fixes it.
that's something I didn't check...but it mainly does it in the game itself as opposed to menu screens stops instantly when minimizing the game..so I think its the stress its placing on the card... only metro 2033 that does it thus far
