    Yes, Indeed! :D

    Recommend undervolting to start with guys to get a feel for your cards lowest limit. I discovered mine is 100% stable at 925mV which is a long way from the default value in BIOS of 1013mV. Also saved me 45W in power! Here's the picture as proof that I also posted in my Enermax Liberty 400W thread...

    It's given me more respect for how chips can vary wildly. Makes sense since the same is applicable to any given CPU. So it follows much like overclocking bundles that the vendor simply slaps a standard BIOS on the card when in fact we could get away with far greater power savings. The GTX 480 is not quite the demon I had been led to believe but it is still a monster! :thumb:

    I know I shouldn't be here cos I've only got a 460 but ...

    So why, other than "because I can", are you going to upgrade to 3 x 680s?

    Have to say, this thread made me go over to Newegg where I found 480s being sold for $250. Curse you all, I just got an uncontrollable upgrade itch.

    Whats worse, my PSU is only 550 watts and I worry a 480 might be a bit too much - would a 560ti-448 be more efficient? I'd rather pay a $20 more for a slight loss in performance if it means my PSU doesnt explode.

    GTX 480 is the better card Lord-Vale3.

    Did I mention my GTX 480 works on my 400W PSU just fine alongside a heavily overclocked E8500, twin Delta FFB1212EHE at full speed, D5 Vario pump on full whack, hot running 680i Motherboard and hot running RAM, oh and a 500GB HDD! :geek:

    At 0.95v and all's well :)
    [IMG]

    With the case and 480 fans at full speed i got:
    Stock Volts = 84C after 11 mins
    1.000v = 82C after 12 mins
    0.975v = 79C after 12 mins
    0.950v = 75C after 12 mins

    I'll see how far i can go. Should have logged it in gpu-z, could have got a nice graph out of it!

    My 400W is an Enermax Lord-Vale3, which may well trump the basic Antec model you have there.

    Nice work! Reading around 925mV seems to be the lowest limit for a good GTX 480 chip. Also you do need to try proper 3D applications besides FurMark. Mine was Furmark stable at 900mV but crashed out of the Heaven Benchmark as one example.

    well it didn't likr 0.925v. just over 7 mins in i started seeing tiny white specs. not knowing if it was just from staring at it i went in for a closer look and it bombed out.
    will have a go on heaven now at 0.95.

    It'll be your own fault for not buying an Enermax PSU in the first place :D

    I mentioned elsewhere my AX850 failed at 500W once! The replacement works fine by the way! :D

    That's why I ran 2 7900gto's until a year ago. I was sorely dissapointed at how small team greans numbers had got I almost defected!

    I'd like to see a return to cards having names rather than this dull numerical nomenclature.

    That's what I was afraid of. Oh well. I already made up my mind, I'm getting a 480 damnit! And to be sure my whole rig doesn't go up in flames, I'm also ordering a SeaSonic M12II 620W.

    well i dropped mine to 0.925v and it crapped out on Furmark but passed Heaven without any problems. So i ran it at 0.950v and Furmark was fine so im going to leave it at 0.950v. Ive got another coming tomorrow hopefully.

    I didn't bother. Only temporary and I'm not pushing the memory or volts so it's just the cooler itself. The instructions make next to no sense so you need to study how the Gelid would logically fit on the GTX 480. Make sure the mounting plate is flush with the cooler, one side has indentations so the screws are flat with the plate.
