I have a GTX 480 (there's a long post below in Hardware about my rig!) and loads of people came up with some very useful suggestions about optimising my set-up. I'm just wishful thinking at the moment, but for high-end gaming performance and a bit of future-proofing, would it be a good idea to: :: Run my existing 480 with another 480 in SLI mode? :: Run a 580 (I know it's still very early days yet) as the main card, with the 480 handling PhysX? :: Go ATI! Yes, the first two options would cost £300 to £400 - and that's a lot of money, but I like plotting and scheming. Oh, and if this does ever go ahead I suppose I'd better factor in another case with some pretty heavy-duty cooling. Any ideas you have would be much appreciated.
You have a GTX480, your already future proof. Chances are the rest of your PC's components will be long out of date by the time the GTX480 meets games that really challenge it. 480 dedicated to physx is absolute overkill, if you really want to add some more grunt to your rig, the second GTX480 in SLI is the route I would go.
