See this just now. https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecials/Other+products/Arianet+GeForce+GTX+480+1536MB+GDDR5+PCI-Express+Graphics+Card+?productId=45975 I got one for myself, thought it will be a nice upgrade from my 5850 now that im running a Dell U2711. If i add the cost of the Zalman after market cooler for it, thats about £200 all in. Cant be bad.
They're generally OEM nvidia cards which are sold under the retailer brand, they're made in the same factory as the branded cards, so there are no quality issues.
A small and very expensive upgrade. The 5850 is more-or-less equal to a GTX470 which isn't all that far behind a GTX480, but maybe the extra punch will come in handy for the higher res. £200 is steep though...ouch.
Im water cooling my 480 and the main difference ive found from my 460 is the framerates at higher resolutions. The extra ram on the 480 comes in handy
Yeah i see your point about it not being a massive upgrade, but i will recycle the 5850 on fleabay and will still get reasonable money for it, it has a Zalman 3000 series cooler on so i will sell for sure. By the time i have a decent cooler on it and ramp up as much as i can get out of it, it might make the differance in my fps that im looking for. A 570 is still way more expensive than this.
That ridicoulously low price makes want to throw something. I bought a gtx 480 last sept for 320gbp. Would buy a 2nd one for SLI if I had the forsight to buy a sli compatible mobo and a bigger psu. RAGE.
Its a decent upgrade, dont listen to all the 480 hate In most games your minimum frames will take a big jump. Sell your 5850 for 80 then you have a decent upgrade for not alot of cash.
That's almost a year ago... one year is a LONG time in the components market, lol. Plus, I've had SLI twice before and it's totally overrated, so don't kick yourself too hard. @ mrbungle, there is no 480 hate The jump from 5850 to 480 really isn't a big one, even though the 480 is still a very powerful card by today's standards.
