"Here is the presented recently personal computer HP voodoo omen, which, as is known, in the base configuration cost $7000". So um..I'm gonna go with $7000+
Since all of the cases are going to HP for an OEM build, are we talking how much Silverstone charged HP or how much it would be retail? HP wouldn't drop 1000+ pounds for the case, as it would just cut into profits of the final system, even if that system was 'boutique' and $$$$+ So my guess is - to HP = 600 pounds, Retail = 950 pounds. Cheers, SouperAndy
Probably a lot, but it doesn't look that hard to make. I mean that as it looks to be mostly composed of precisely cut, but un-articulated slabs. I'm not a huge fan of the LCD thingy on the top in the front. That is some quality aluminum slabs there though, but Al isn't that expensive.
Closest yet. It costs over $2000 to build each case and it would retail for "around $3000" according to Silverstone.
Damnit! You beat me to it. I was about to post, after reading all the way off estimates of less than £1000, that it'd retail for no less than £2000 Having knowledge of material costs, manufacturing costs and final product value gives me an unfair advantage though. On a more important note, that thing is gorgeous in a very mean looking way and yes, I would pay that just to have one. I am addicted to limited edition/ limited run products. Especially ones that look as sexy as that thing does. Look at it. It looks like it's going to kill you and your family, then eat your dog. I love it!
But why? Aside from lack of volume in units made, I see no reason why this case would cost that much more than the housing for a Mac Pro which is made of the same material and likely has a similar level of complexity.
The Alu is 5mm thick and the sheets are very large - the case is huge. It's completely segmented inside and has metal tubed watercooling integrated throughout the entire chassis with a custom made 4x-something radiator in the base. The LCD in the front is no cheap unit either and its fronted by glass. The six hot swap spaces for hard drive bays in the front have the coolest yet simplest mechanism I've ever seen - and they're also aluminium.
After much pondering and lots of flicking through my case "library" and database today, I can honestly say that is the nicest production case I've ever seen and at some point in the future I may well try to get my hands on one. I drool when I look at it. It's that good.
Bindi is there any chance you could get some good shots of the case on its own? Id like to attempt something similar in the future.
