Here is a before and after shot, can you guess what it is??? More pics to come, just want to throw out a teaser first Excuse that bad lighting in first pic... BEFORE: AFTER:
You are correct! I've had 25 views to this thread and only 1 response... As of now, I have never seen or heard of anyone modding their digidoc to their floppy bay. I've even searched the forums and on google. Could I possibly be the inventor of this mod? Hail the DIGIDOC:MICRO!!
hahah sorry d00d someone here in oz already did that! http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/heavywater/DigiDoc.htm
bah... he cheated, using the original plastic bezel behind the bay covers. Using that method with the digidoc plastic behind the face plate, the buttons are really countersunk. It's a sweet mod though.
Nice job, and I see what you mean by 'countersunk'. I was planning on getting a DigiDoc as well, but reallized how sad it is, as a) it will add a hole LOAD of wires to my case and b) I can achive the same (and more) with an LCD module.... Mike
Good and bad news.. maybe this will head on over to the disaster mods section.. Bad news first, I was readjusting the upper right screwhole since it wasn't lining up properly. Everything was going fine till the dremel got caught and stopped spinning, making odd whining noises... you know that noise, when it's trying to spin but can't?? That's when my left hand eased up a bit and the plate slipped loose from my hand.. Being freed, the faceplate along with the dremel buried into it begins rotating wildly at about the 25,000RPM setting!! I quickly shut it off to find my faceplate scratched up and a badly mangled hole What's worse is that the LCD lens and keypad were still in the plate and being rotated at such a speed caused it to fly off, disappearing into the clutter of my messy room. I did manage to find the screen a day later but the keypad is still MIA.. Now I need to buy another floppy bay cover up this incident.. The "good" news is now I can begin DigiDoc:Micro pt. 2! Plans include a clear plexi faceplate to show off the bluish-turquoise pcb which will either be mounted back in the floppy bay, or construction of a complete plexi enclosure to make a DigiDoc:External with split loom to tame the wirey mess I'm sure no one has mounted a DD5 into a plexi face or made an external version as I plan too... *cue for all of you to prove me wrong* btw, I've contacted Macpower about ordering another keypad.. haven't got a response from them yet
