Looks like the filler cap, yes. As for clues: the manufacturer is well-known & active but if you spotted a certain similarity to an early 60's Cortina... don't go there.
Definitely not a cortina tbh not even close. That rear wheel dont look standard. God those cortina's were c**p.
John is in a secret place doing secret things for the Royal Australian Air Force 7 days a week for long hours. They have him fire walled out of the real world so bad he can't even have a cell phone. So I heard.
Just dropped in to say I'm still alive and to give a hint. Not about the car but the poster. Double_Mac is from Poland and has an affinity for obscure Japanese cars and American cars. He is formidable but probably hasn't posted many American cars because I used to live here. Quite well respected on guess the car threads on forums on a different continent. Be wary. He is cool and has many "Gotchas" in his bag of tricks. Just sayin. john who is not here.
My first association (when I was trying to identify the car myself) was a Cortina due to the styling of the rear so I just mentioned it as a warning of sorts. Well, thanks! More like ‘overambitious’ rather than ‘formidable’, and I’m not sure about the ‘well respected’ bit either. It’s true, however, that I’ve been avoiding posting American cars here because of your noticeable erudition. To speed things up a bit, the current entry is indeed a Japanese model.
I've had nearly every model of the cortina range from the mk1 to the mk5 they were real rot boxes . I was thinking it's more like the early toyota corolla.
Ford Cortina Mk2 with Rostyle wheels ? I don't think a cabriolet was a factory option, but I could easily be wrong on that.
http://www.classiccar.co.nz/articles/topless-tina-1968-ford-cortina-1600-gt-crayford-convertible-201 Captain Haddock, your turn. Yes I kinda cheated as this is a conversion, but there was over 440 of them in total!
This one should be really easy, but I like this car. Bonus pts for whoever gets the car on the right corner too. (called rep guys!)
