Seeing we have a "cultural exchange" going on here, I guess I'll contribute to it makeing it almost complete. What nationalities are missing ? Ask what you want ...

    Cheers

Let me put it this way : some people are to thick to understand jokes ;)

But I'd say most people do have a sense of humor - for "under the belt - line humor" anyway :D

When I was in germany (Bavaria, Dachau to be more precise :)) with my schools exchange in 2001, we went on a cable car up a mountain in Garmische.

There were various cable cars up the mountains, one of which was gloriously (to a 16 year old English kid with an immature sense of humour) titled 'Wankbahn'.

I understand the significance of bahn, but what does '****' mean in German? This puzzled me, as it wasn't in the dictionary so it did not appear to be a German word. Just a place name then? Thought I'd ask as it puzzled me at the time, but I was never going to ask my teacher was I....

Why is it the case on Holiday that the Germans always get their towels on the sun loungers 1st. Is this tradition passed down from generation to generation?:hehe:

Lol Will that still sounds glorious to me :hehe:

Anyway does everyone in germany drive 100 miles an hour on the motorways? Or are they simply curteus and drive and respectable speeds? Both cases sound crazy to me :p

Without wanting to cause offense, does it really offend germans to discuss 'the' war? In the style of Basil Fawlty... :)

I had a female german exchange partner, and she had a sister... with lots of friends. I wasnt unhappy that's for sure ;) :hehe: Her sister and friends were well fit (i was 15, she was 14, was a bit young though).

Afaik, none of them had hairy pits - i thought it was french women? :naughty:

    Hi !

    I have some questions...

    - Is it true that most of the cars you people drive are Mercedes, BMW and Porsche ?

    - Do you still have the 'Index' (forbidden books, movie's, etc..)

    - What type of goverment do you have ?
for example we have a 'parlementary democratie with a king as a 'head 'with limited power... (or something like that)

    - Is it true that for example on a camping (campsite.. , place where u go on holiday with a caravan/trailer) , people arent really... 'open', like talk to you, and hang out...

    the reason I ask:
We go to the Ardeche in france, almost every year , (same campside , next to the ardeche (river); and a couple a years ago there were some german people ; and they had a son, a bit younger then me... but we started talking, and so we got to 'know' him...
and he informed us that there is still a 'index' , and that people in germany aren't so 'friendly', that they will just talk to you, like on holiday etc... or invite you for a drink/dinner/whatever...

Or maybe we are just over-friendly...

and another question, but I'm not sure to ask this..

I don't mean any offense, or mean to start a discussion..

but offcours we talked about the whole war-thing; and he sed that most people are really against anything that smells like nazisme now , but that there are still 'groups', of younger people, and some adult, that form a nazi-group...

We have them here though, not so very extreme or anything; but the way he discribe that group, at his school, sounded a bit extreme, to what I'm use too here...

Now again, don't mean any offense, if this starts some kind of war-discussion, i'm removing this

No. If it were so, I wouldn't have a girlfriend ;) But really no, not all have hairy pits. But I agree that German women in general lack a care for shaving ...

Ok, two questions from me: Why are so many TV shows dubbed in Germany? It is completely off to watch MacGyver speak with a grinding German voice...
One more: Is Germany a horrible place to be in the summer months? 'cause that would explain why all the Germans come to Norway...

**** is the "mountain" the cable car drives up. The mountain is 1780m high. But your humor is not immature, or was ... cause I'd have thought the same, even if I am German I would have thought of the English meaning and laughed ;)

    Cheers

It seems so. I think it's an utter nuiscance and hate people doing it. In some places it's even forbidden by law, but they just don't care. I had a fight over it with some idiot German in Spain once ... I won. It's a typical German thing that mostly lower class people do.

    Cheers

Personally I drive 250 where I can, if the situation allows it. General limit is 130 and due to sound polution and high crash rates in some places 80 - 100 kpH. But there are alot of people who drive faster. The minority drives at 100 ... The average speed you'll find people driving at is 140 - 180 kpH.

    Cheers
