ok i think i borked somthing by doing this. ok i did the bridge trick as per instructions it now shows up as a mobile athlon xp 1700+ ( the origional CPU was a 2500+ ) i cant get the FSB higher than 150mhz. and the highest multiplyer is 11. i can re lock the cpu by rubbing out the pensil and run it at 2ghz stock. as it wont OC without lowering the multi
The OCW artical is a rip off of work at OCForums http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=257004 Unfortunatly this is not for the average user. First point to mention is that it will only work on mobos that support the PowerNow feature of the Mobile Athlon but nforce2 boards do not support this. Second point is that you have to boot into windows with the stock multi but you cannot change the fsb in windows so your still limited to the fsb that you can boot with normaly. o/c of the cpu in windows is only possible by changing multipler but this will result in a bottleneck at the fsb. Still it is a promising breakthrough hopefully someone may be able to get it to work with nforce2.
mine does support power now multiplyers. and you can change the FSB in windows. but why is it reading athlon xp-m 1700+ shurley it shoudl read athlon xp-m 2500+ at boot. to change fsb in windows use fuzzy logic 4 www.msi.com.tw its in teh d/l section for the KT4 ultra.
Where did you get that from? What I read from XtremeSystems forums, it mentioned nothing about not being able to adjust the front side bus from within windows, so I've assumed that you still can, otherwise they would mention it right? I mean Eversor and Petr, the two who have been working on this solution to unlocking superlocked processors
With powernow, i dont think you cant increase the multiplier from the chips default... it will only go down.....
it only goes down, that's correct Highland3r. You can't increase it, the idea of powernow is to reduce the core speed when the processor is idle.
Well it was from one of the guys working on it over at o/cforums. Not going to mention names. Maybe he is wrong im not sure. Ive seen petrs site and work and i belive he is responsible for the CPUMSR program? from his site it looks like he has done alot of work with powernow but not in the context of ulocking week39+ bartons Have to got a link to the XtremeSystems threads you are refuring to?
