Well whatever the performance numbers are, its going to be beasted by the 7990 - possibly as soon as April! 4096 Stream proceesors, 6GB of DDR5 (3GB really, why do they still pretend its double?)
so 2 full 7970's? sounds impressive as usual...then nvidia will hit back with the 690, and promise 700 series by years end, which won't hit until 6 months or so after...and so on
quick, someone re-host these: http://www.tomshardware.com/gallery/geforce-gtx-680-gk104-kepler,0201--10727----jpg-.html EDIT: it's now taken down, someone managed to grab all graphs: http://www.mediafire.com/?b14gcd1586efbsl i grabbed important ones, eg. benchmarks in 2560x1660
I think power consumption would be an issue with those specs. Running nearly as fast as a 7970 core (850 against 925mhz), everything else the same. It'll need at least 3x 8-pin connectors. At some point high end GPU power usage has to stop going up!
Blasphemy! They'll just have to make 2000W Power Supplies to fuel the madness! But I do actually agree. It's why it was a hell of a surprise to see the 680 only demands two Six-pin. That's the same as my 550's!
Wow those screenshot's look impressive, and they have already been taken of Tom's Hardware lol. Look's like my plan's to just buy a new GTX 480 to replace my current one before it dies has just gone out the window. Might have to save up for 2 of the GTX 680's aslong as other reviews hold up to those claims from Tom's Hardware.
So yeah, 10% faster than a 7970 in BF3, I'm surprised its not more given they have tripled the CUDA cores. Great find btw Wu, champion.
well, i didn't think it was honestly this close to release, and it sounds like the intended 680 isn't...but this will do for sure...hopefully this starts a chain reaction of amd price drops...would love to grab me a 7950 for $350...
BF3 ,3-5-330593-3 by Penderyn, on Flickr ,3-4-330592-3 by Penderyn, on Flickr ,3-3-330591-3 by Penderyn, on Flickr Well, from this benchmark, there isn’t much in it between the 680 and the 7970 in BF3 at Ultra at 2560x1600, especially as FXAA is fine. I’ll probably go with whichever is cheapest, or which has the most overclocking headroom. Features wise, ATI wins for me with eyefinity, and then there is the extra 1GB of vRAM.
not THAT impressed with it. rumoured launch price is £400, although a good performance jump over 580, but it's 40nm to 28nm, i was expecting more than 480-to-580 kind of jump, more like 7800 to 8800 kind. think i'll wait for GK110, the real next gen end of this year. of course, Bit-tech's minimal-FPS graphs may change my mind.
Nope, stock cards are limited to 2 screens per card. KFA do the ones that offer more screens per card. That's 5xx series though. Wu below has more on 6xx series
according to this leaked MSI slides (bottom of the article): yes http://en.expreview.com/2012/03/21/msi-geforce-gtx-680-graphics-card-pictured/22047.html probably same as AMD: at least one displayport monitor.
