My first thought on that last pic was "that needs a light". Then i read the everything below it.

I like it. Will this be in CF or plexi?

Most of the feedbacks I received were against the total scratchbuild. So, a compromise has been reached.
    You have seen this before:

    and this:

But if I take off the black panels it's a bit different after today's marathon.
I now have this to work with:

    Just 1/2" x 1/2" alum angle.
    Pop rivet the pieces together:

and remove anything in the front and rear that doesn't look like I want.

A compromise - I kept the bottom tray and the removable motherboard tray.

    5" x * 1/2" x 11 3/4 inches as before.

Now I have the support I need to make vertical 1/2" angles for the divider between the pump/res and the MB. What material is still up in the air. I'm currently leaning toward polished alum for the pump box to show reflections with the 2 LED 'cannons.

That is the most work I've done in one day in ages. Thanks to all you guys for looking and commenting and prodding.

the little that is left from the original box doesn't really count anymore for it to be called a "case mod" ..... I think now you can call it a scratch build...........

I even had to trim some on the removable MB tray. It's getting in the way of the new uprights and the support for the inner wall I want to build around the pump/res.

I will still keep it black! Does that count? [IMG]

I forgot to reply to this. I did look at the CF peel and stick at the auto parts store where I bought the LED spotlights. 6" x 6" - $9.95. I can sit in my chair and polish alum for free and spend the $10 on Guinness. LOL

I think the alum will be the ticket. It will keep the lights around the res. I do have a 3' x 3' front surfaced glass mirror in the tack room. Fun to bounce lasers off of. Came from old rear projection big screen

You won't need the mirror with polished aluminum.

I know many will disagree but....case modding is a gateway drug that leads young innocent minds towards full-on scratch-built customs. Just let yourself go John.

Goes off to cue up some Steppenwolf....

    Come to the Dark Side

All night last night while sleeping I heard this voice
"Come to the Dark Side. Lose the bottom case. And if you turn now I can promise you a new hat!"

    SO:

1/2" x 3/4" alum angle. It give more area for the floor. I have plexi everywhere around here but was too lazy to cut an exact size piece. It'll look like this. This is too thin and too small.

I know this probably lets a bunch of people down who wanted to see me save the original case and pimp it. I couldn't save it. The removable MB will go to the scrap bin. Make a new set of holes and use standoffs like a real modder.

I'm going back to work on it now - spent the day getting all new cell phones for the household.

    OH, I forgot ...

    I got the hat!

It might sound strange but after all this I want the mobo tray to be used. You could mod it so it is attached to the acrylic for the base with thumbscrews or something.

Now that's charming. Sentimentality from a modder! I'll save it since it already has the cutout for Cheapskates H2O blocks. Just moves the I/O panel up a red hair but I have the room. Only thing above it is the 2 x 40mm radiator.

Looking good, I may have missed something but, is the entire case going to be acrylic now?
