4 months to get them delivered. Would't have been quicker just to drive and pick them up??

The real world has been in the way all day today. Cleaning, rearranging, donating stuff. The lady/wife Marilyn has hand surgery Monday and will be out of commission for a couple months. The boys and I are getting ready for her to just sit.

I will try to get some better pics of the CF using different backgrounds.
I had heard that some CF has a good side and a bad side. I can't seen to see any difference on these panels. Oh, and they appear to be 3 layers thick which I will NEVER be able to show in a picture.

Give her my (and probably everyone else who reads this thread) sympathy. Can't be fun or pleasant.

And again, Congrat's on finally getting the panels

Sorry to hear about the hand problems, I've been having a terrible time with a Ganglion Cyst. So send her my sympathy for sure.

On a lighter note, That's some mighty fine looking carbon fiber. and as always love the mod.

    John:

You are correct - the panels are made from 3 layers of fabric, pressed at realatively low pressure (only a couple tonnes) to give more definition to the weave - more pressure makes the surface flat and less 3d like.
Each fabric layer is woven from F201 finish 12k high tensile untwisted carbon rovings.
The resin used is epoxy based - and should resist scratches and chipping pretty well.

They are G2S (good 2 sides) however with a couple panels there are small defects on one side because I cut them close to the edge of some scraps pcs I had (the outer few inches of a panel are often damaged due to the manufacturing process or have frayed weaves where the edges pulled apart). But I figured it wouldn't matter if you hide the defects on the inside.

    Thanks Jesse,

I'll try to do some better pictures this evening using different colored backgrounds.

These are super panels. Closest I ever got to real CF of this quality was about 25 feet from a Stealth Fighter at an air show at Lowry Airbase.

Those are awesome. Puts my CF sheet I bought on eBay to shame.

What kind of weave is that, Langer?

Nothing unique, just a 1x1 Plain weave (standard over under configuration).

Due to budget cutbacks the Air Force's newest stealth fighter lacks a little in the aerodynamics.

    The Stealth Shoebox MK 1.

Just the panels and a little blue tape.

Looking good :thumb: But i can see it, so ur stealth haz failed :hehe:
I hope my jokes don't get any worse today, it's still morning over here :worried:

So are you going to attach these guys from the inside, such as brackets stuck onto the inside of cf sheet with double sided tape for example?
Or are you going to drill them and bolt them in?
I really like how it looks now in your mock up, so +1 vote to not drill them!

I've been watching that build over the past month or two. It is so incredible!

I think he used magnets for the top panel of his case.
