The line at the end of the trailer did make me laugh Could be good fun, but I don't hold out much hope for it being worth the 12 year wait!
This games going to be either apocolyptically epic, or a huge let down. I don't see an in between for this game.
Looks very much like Halo I think... anyone else? Thats not to say I'll be buying this thing on launch day... I've been waiting for that day for ... wait, like the rest of us! DAMMMN!
I've not been waiting for it really. I was too young for the original Duke Nukem, and never went back to play them.
Hmm, I was five when it was released... I'll be honest and say I played the entire of Duke3D and even remember all the level layouts now! (Same with Sonic the Hedgehog) and redownloaded it about six months ago just to bang through the levels again. I'm really looking forward to Forever. I'm afraid it's boots are size 13, just not big enough for Duke's size 12's now. Thing is, I think it'll fail because it's a "game of the past" while every kid these days, wants the next Halo that has you armoured to high hell in technological master awesome with every cannon hanging from your fingers. Duke isn't that, he's made of the same stuff Chuck Norris is!
I think they may have left it too long. Duke as a character seems very dated now. Also, from that video it all seems pretty standard stuff with a bit of Duke thrown in. Still will play it though at some point or another. RIP Duke.
I think he is kind of supposed to be dated, because the character is poking fun at the 80's action hero movie genre. It's like all those Arnie/Sly/Vanne Damme/Lungdren movies rolled in to one. To me the style and humour of the original was kind of chuckle worthy, but it wasn't a big deal, and wasn't the reason I loved the game so much. I loved it because it's gameplay was so good, and did stuff no other games had. Jetpacks, steroids, kick boots, hologram, shrink ray, laser trip bombs, remote pipe grenades, night vision, scuba gear, etc.. It was great in single player but even more fun in multiplayer. It made the competition look really outdated and mediocre in comparison. Whether it can do the same in this day and age though, I don't know. We'll have to see.
