I have noticed a large amount of 'hair' material coming out the back of my exhaust pipe. Thinking I was the subject of a strange practical joke I just pulled a couple of lumps out and thought no more of it..
But it keeps reappearing. Does anyone know what is going on? Has my catalytic converter exploded and sending its furry guts outwards??? (Does it even have fur, hair, whatever it is inside?)
    Baffled.

I'm afraid I don't really know, but this is the funniest thing I've read all day.

At a guess I would say it's your catalytic, either that or you've sucked a passing dog into your air intake...

LMAO @ CATs having fur. It's not literally a dead cat piped into your exhaust :D:D ;)

CAT converters are metal meshes. God know's what it is, is it plasticy or more natural? Something been shagging your exhaust pipe?

    Almost :thumb:

It'll be the baffles from the backbox of the exhaust, just needs replacing :)

Nope, Freedom, they malt when the weather starts getting hotter so they can stay cool.

I cannot imagine it coming from a cat converter - they're ceramicish.

Just returned from a trip up north. 400 miles round trip. Yep, the stuff is still coming out of the back. At one stage going up the M11, I noticed a huge long bit fly out the back. It was quite amusing, but scary at the same time. The exhaust is now starting to sound pretty bad though. Looks like I am buying a new exhaust this weekend.......

Its a Honda Civic. Sorry, I don't have access to a camera at the moment, otherwise I would up some pictures of the fur. It essentially looks very much like a cheap black and white hair piece that has fallen apart. The exhaust is only a couple of years old. I did buy it from kwik fit, so I guess I should expect something daft like this to happen.
(Sorry if I offend anyone associated with kwik fit. I regard them as the motoring equivalent of Wilkinsons, price is good, but nothing ever lasts for long)

I remember this ahppening my mate Honda Civic and him thinking it was a crow that was nesting in the muffler, he started kicking it to see if it was alive....dumbass...

I agree but with one of those bad boy racer trumpets, your neigbours will love you racing up and down the street in the morning..
