Is half duplex 10megs per second an full 100megs per second? If thats correct, if i enable full duplex rather than autodetect the speed on both cards, will that make them run at 100megs per second all the time. And then for example, a 600mb chunk of crap would take 6 seconds to go from one pc to another? Hope that made sense. Thanks Alex
Nope, half dupex means data can only travel in one direction at a time, full dupex means it can be in both directions at the same time. Also its 100 Megabits a second not megabytes which means that it can theoretically transfer around 10 megabytes a second but the most I have seen is about 8 mb/sec.
Um ok well 1st - it's megabit not megabytes. 100mbit/sec is equivalent to 12.5MByte/sec. So 600mb would take approx 50 seconds at full throughput, but usually it's about 10MBytes. As for half of full duplex, full duplex is when you can send and recieve at the same time. half duplex is when you are either sending or recieving, not both at the same time. edit - beaten too it
