    City 17 Lan-Project

Inspired from Piloux Blackmesa-Project i planned to build a Lan-Optimized Case in a rusty "Half-Life 2 Look". I named my Project "City 17 Lan-Project" because City 17 seems to be the mainplace in HL2.

    Project Log

First i ordered a "small brother clone" of a Chieftec classic case.

Afterwards i cut out some Tie Bars and other materials in the front with my "Dremel"

After that i put Lattice into the hole to get more stability and a nice look from the inside.

Afterwards i planned the Frontpanel (similarly like Piloux Blackmese Case) with a Ammeter and some Switches on it. I worked with a material called polystyrol-plates :thumb:

After that i put some screeding compound on the lower plate to get a nice rusty blister look. Aftwards i put some layers "Iron Base Coat" / "Rust Fluid" on the plate.

Like Piloux i put an old Juwelcase (color: orange) into the hole.

    "Dremelwork" :dremel:

    Now i planed the Main-Control-Panel

For testing i put some switches and the ammetet into the plate.

Now i cut out the frontdoor and put some rivets into the door. After that i will put a lattice with HL2 Logo into the hole. :dremel:

And now the lattice and the paint: :naughty:

Afterwards i cut out a HL2-Logo and put it into middle of the door :hip:

As you can see i painted the whole front. At the top of the last picture you can see ATX-Switch (2nd bolt) and Reset-Switch (4th bolt).

Now, i painted the panel and the "fan-grill". Maybe i will change the color, cause its not rusty enough, i think so. :duh:

After that i fill out the lighting-covers on the left side of the panel with hot adhesive. Then i put a red LED into the hot adhesive to get full lightning effect. Later i will attach the Standy-LED and the HDD-LED. :eeek: Furthermore the ammeter received a orange LED.

Nice looking case. Although I've seen this mod a bunch already, I still kind of like it. Keep up the good work!

Wow ! you could not make more real looking bullet holes with real bullets! Nice job with the filler material to make to make the rust blisters, looks like very thick/old metal.

    Good job..

    1 tip THOUGH!!!

I would take out that molex put some bigger plexy and screw it in from the side and mount the plexy behind the metal. Get the plexy from your nearest hardware store..

    Shouldnt be too hard...
