    From the Inq:

"A WEBSITE has published more pics of the Half Life 2 game that was, apparently, stolen and that's quite a few days ago now. Other people on different websites also appear to have compiled Half Life 2, but others have warned that the compiled source code may contain viruses.

In short, confusion still reigns about the whole Valve/Half Life 2 affair, with a promised statement still failing to materialise, as far as we can tell."

Wow, those pics show quite alot more than what weve seen so far, except the official stuff from Valve. I havent downloaded anything, and dont plan on it. I still have high hopes that this game will make it out before Christmas.

    A little funny about this:

    http://www.gamespy.com/fargo/october03/valvefiles/index.shtml

I have been hitting IRC, tracking down the progression of "the leak" since I heard news of it. The first I saw a compiled version ready for download was last Thursday night (seems like slow news on the 'net). Last Saturday night (Sunday morning), I started seeing a 1.4G beta popping up and a patch for it as well (could be just a no-cd patch, but at this point, who knows).

I wonder if there is a conspiracy going on?! :worried:

In a dark and gloomy room with a large table and a single, dimmed bulb the only light to be had, a dark figure speaks:

valve#1: We're not going to release the game until 2005, any questions?

valve#2: What if, somehow, sourcecode was released to drum up some media.

valve#1: Good, good, anything else people?

valve#3: We could say that the we checked the source code and there is a virus in it, then we could be justified to charge more for the actual copy. Possibly charge for updates and patches!

valve#1: On the right track guys, great ideas. Keep'em coming.

in the dark, also sitting in a standard black leather executive full back chair, sits another person. This person is only known as "The smoking keyboard".

I can't wait for the release myself, seeing those "new" screenshots makes me want to buy it. Hmmm, that could be the whole idea. A bogus leak, compiled by valve, and sent out for the wares puppies to snap up some screenshots. :eyebrow:

As previously posited in my Conspiracy Theory #2 post. Plenty of us are having the exact same thoughts.... ;)

i dont know what to believe. releasing what appears to be genuine hl2 source code and beta game seems like a really ****ed up way to get publicity. will just have to wait i guess.
