News Half Life 2 to suck on Nvidia cards

    3 different articles concening Gabe Newell (Valve) giving a talk at an ATI event yesterday. The 5900 scored roughly half the framerate of the 9800, wih Gabe admitting that it took 5x as long to program Nvidia specific codepaths as standard DX9 ones. Extremely interesting stuff - looks like ATI have come up trumps, with the best hardware to play what is sure to be the game of the year on.

    Nvidia need to hope thier card is at least good with Doom III. Half life 2 will dominate this years, and probably next years gaming so ati will have the number 1 cards unless a patch comes out when they release on the 30th 'IF' they release it then :)

    Wow, Nvidia can put all kinds of time and money into optimizing their cards for 3dmark and not upcoming games. looks like benchmarks are all nvidia cards are good for nowadays.

    wow... as a nvidia fan i'm kinda bummed.... hopefully they'll be a driver fix for it soon, isnt the next video card product cycle due soon?

    as an nVidia card owner i really couldnt care less, the doom3 beta pranged ATI cards and loved nvidia cards and this is just the other way round

    im not going to be blaying a pre-release benchmark am i? im going to be playing a final resease game

    When NVidia releases a new driver that turns off all the eye candy, reduces the image quality and a few other tricks by default it will of course totally own the ATI cards ;)

    Cmon neither NVidia or ATI are above playing dirty.

    It'll suck on my gf3 ti200 whatever so who cares :lol:

    At least with Intel and AMD they both seem to be playing the same game, but with ATI and nvidia i'm getting more and more confused as to who is trying to do what :sigh:
