Lemme tell you something scary. That headcrab. In that ventilation shaft. Scares the bejeezus out of me. Sent from my Orange San Francisco using Tapatalk
Scared the bejesus out of me the first few times, but now I know what's coming better, it's not so bad. I still get like and adrenalin rush, running away from the ant-lion gaurdian thing when your trying to get to the extract in Ep2. You can hear it stomping up behind you, you daren't stop running to look as you know it'll get you, you can see the hole ahead you need to get into. Could have done with a diving jump button for that, Started playing blue shift yesterday after reading this thread,
The underground lights out level of ep1 was brilliant, the first time I played it I managed light up a load of zombies with flares and made it a little easier. Never managed to do that level quite so well again.
Or maybe people on here play real games, as opposed to 3 levels of run and gun, followed by 1 level of helicopter, followed by two more levels of run and gun and finally a cinematic let down. Im a massive Halo fan and it will always be one of my fav's but, even I have admit that Half Life is possibly the greatest game ever. Edit: And yes I have played almost all of the Call of Duties...they were fine to start, after MW1 they were just plain MEH...been their done that...
Best COD was COD 2 - http://uk.gamespot.com/call-of-duty-2/ before the perks and stats ruined gameplay!
What's sad is you've just assumed I play call of duty? When did I ever mention call of duty? I think you need to calm down with your fanboyish ways
Ha, whats sad is you just assumed Im a fan boy...when did I ever mention that ay? TBH Im not a fanboy of anything, I like what I like and thats it to be fair
Erm, any chance we can go back to half life 3? A lot of people seem to be assuming ep3 has been scraped, I wonder if that is true?
Yep lets! Personally I think EP3 wont happen but, HL3 will and will hit catching just about all of us off guard..just my opinion of course and not fact
I was still a little afraid of it playing recently... Good stuff right there. I also really enjoyed 4 and played quite a bit of it in multiplayer. The perks and kill streak stuff is a bit silly, but the modern setting was still pretty new and fun and it had some great maps. Repetitive from the perspective of multiple playthroughs? I'd say it's fairly repetitive, actually. No idea how some people can play it on the order of 5+ times. It's quite dynamic and exciting within itself, particularly compared to your typical Hallway Simulator 3: Shoot the Baddies FPS game, but doesn't really offer much more for playing it over again. I've gotten through twice and am happy to call it good at that.
I just finished re-playing through Half Life 2 and Episode One, and currently playing through Episode Two now. These games have aged very well - the graphics are still fantastic, and run smoothly on my laptop, which has a measly Intel HD 3000 (and an i3). I think Episode One's campaign was longer than most recent FPS campaigns... *cough*
I've started wondering, after this announcement that Valve are now entering the hardware market. Anyone remember, when the rumour first surfaced, and I'm sure Valve said they had no plans at all to enter the hardware market with a steam box. And now, they are entering it. So, what else can we believe, maybe HL3 / Ep3, is just around the corner, and they've just been teasing us, .
No no no. The fast zombie, in the storm drain just outside Nova Prospekt. The first time that thing appeared I didn't just jump, I jumped backwards, straight off the cliff into the sea. Or the Poisoned Zombie in that house on the coastal road. Shinji Mikami can only dream of scares like that one. Anyway, when/if HAlf Life 3 rolls along, I don't care too much as long it contains as many scenes with DOG as possible. Preferably puling the face off an Advisor.
Valve debunked rumours of a Steambox, not necessarily everything that is hardware related. Which moves suspicion even closer that it will be some form of input device. I don't think Valve are currently working on anything HL related. They don't need the income from it, and can take as much time as they want. I'd like to think that HL3 will not use the Source engine (as it currently stands anyway). So maybe they're working on that at the moment, who knows.
I was going to say something about them not using the source engine as it's so long after Ep2, but the source engine is extremely modular, I remember reading about it when it first came out, and I believe this is the reason why it has aged so well. So maybe they are going to keep the source engine, but give it a bigger overhaul than they did for Ep2, like maybe making it DX10 or 11, although whether this would be doable within the modularity of the engine I don't know. I think they are working on it, they're just not saying anything about it so that they can get on with it, not build up any unrealistic hype, not disappoint anyone by having a continually changing release date. I'm hoping it's just going to pop up within the next year, and hopefully be as polished as HL2 was.
Considering how well the Black Mesa Team have being able to add extra graphical content to the Source Engine I wonder if adding DX11 would be quite a simple process?
I honestly don't give a crap about it having the latest graphical wonders, I just want to continue the story. Great games don't need to hide behind graphics, although I admit it is nice to have that too. Half life 2 and the episodic releases were masterful, completely engrossing, works of art; in their time. I just want a release date so I can plan my revisit to them all. I wasn't much into the CS multiplayer or anything else, apart from TF2 before it got hats (ffs), I just really enjoyed the Half Life world.
