Can I play in Half-Life in 1280 x 1024? ...yeah that simple. Last time I played it you couldn't, just wondering.
There is either a console command or a config file you can edit to get any resolution (I forget which, sorry), try doing a quick search on Google maybe for a list of console commands - it might dig something up. Short of that, poke around in the config files for anything obvious.
No... I wouldn't be able to, trust me I tried that once and got nowhere... Can someone dig through their configs and such to try and find something? Cheers.
I don't currently have it installed so I can't check for you that way. I will have a look through all the old HL sites in my favourites and see if I can find anything there but I'm not optimistic.
Hehe I was just about to reply saying I hadn't found anything, so predictably it turned up after a lot of searching (keeps me off the crime ridden streets of my small Oxfordshire village anyway). It's from here and if you scroll down most of the way or just search the page for 'resolution' you should find the two commands you need. Now the next part is all from memory so it may or may not be accurate - I uninstalled HL a month or so ago to clear space and I havent seen my cd for at least a year. I think they are just added to "config.cfg" in your "halflife\valve" folder (back it up first) - at least I think thats where the config files were stored. If they are indeed in there, you will also need to add the two lines to the "config.cfg" files in the folder of any mod you want to play with the same resolution e.g. "halflife\cstrike\config.cfg". If that doesnt work then try them in "autoexec.cfg" or just in the console when on the main menu. Anyway hope it helps,
Woo, nice one Can someone that has Half-Life installed (I don't...yet) see if setting it to 1280 x 1024 with that method works? It should therefore be: vid_config_x 1200 vid_config_y 1024 Pasted somewhere in your config. Thankyoooou
No probs K, glad to be of service. One thing to bear in mind is that the lines wont neccessarily (sp?) be in the config file by default - a lot of stuff needs to be added manually for it to appear in the files, so dont think you've got the wrong one just because it doesn't appear in it to begin with. Again, thats from memory so I may be wrong.
