It depends on the games really. I wont get a Gold membership just to have one.. but if there is a game that really captivates my desire to be online.. then I just might have to.

The problem to me is the compeditiveness of online gaming. I play games to escape. To relax. To have fun. A lot of gamers, and namely online gamers play for ego boosts, high scores, social praise and other such stuff. Theres nothing wrong with that by any means, so if anyone here is motivated by such reasons I'm not putting you down. Thats just not my idea of fun. Compeditivness is fun, but when its fair and you have time to devote/desire to practice for hours to become better.. which I dont.

I definitely see a possibility for the online subscriptions to boom, however that is going to depend on the software. Its too early to give a definite answer on wether or not I will go online with X360 or not.

Because nothing on xbox live makes me want to go on, not that i can with 200gig harddisk and mod-chip. But ive absolutely no desire to pay for online subscription as well as a £50 game. If i want to play co-op ill invite my mates over for a laugh, infact it's extremely rare for me to play free online games where i can interact with other users. People on online games just become arogent idiots tbh, and the more people that go online the more over competative alpha male script kiddie tards will overwhlem the online gaming world.

haha we are essentially all in agreement. If i go online with x360 it will be because friends I know are playing online as well.. or beacuse there is a game that really appeals to me. Something like Oblivion with online gameplay would be real fun.. but I'll have to weigh the cost/benefit when the time comes vs. how I feel vs. my bank account.

Oblivion won't have online play, Asphix. ;) So I can save you that argument right now.

Bar World Of Warcraft, I've spent longer online with my Xbox games than any PC game I have ever owned. Stuff like PGR2, Pro Evo 4, Halo 2, MotoGp... priceless online gaming experiences the likes of which I've never seen on the PC. It's a combination of a rock solid Xbox Live client, fool proof setup, a slightly different attitude to the games by the players, and the relative difficulty of cheating compared with the PC. I can only see these things being improved and amplified in their awesomeness with the new Xbox and it's wonderful, life affirming new features ;)

Da Diego, I know. Thats why I said something *like* oblivion.. meaning a game with less of a compeditive edge. :-D
