Started playing halflife again recently, and until now it's been fine, despite the loss of my graphics card and subesquent reliance on 8megs of on board. :waah:

Now it's instantly rebooting whenever I click HL or Team fortress. (Don't have CS) :worried:

Nothing has changed since I played it yesterday.

Search turned up nothing of value.

Any help on this problem that has (searching lets me know that much at least) affected people before would be appreciated.

XP Pro, now 8Mb on board, 512Mb RAM.

    - H.

PS: If possible, I would like to avoid reinstalling and/or formatting.

8mb for half life!!! it'll be steaming along with such a collossal amount! :D

it runs spot on with my old 4mb so that aint ur problem (runs even better on my 9600xt tho :thumb: )

its not gonna kill u to reinstall it. just make a back up of ur game save folder and the weapon mods folder (surely uve changed at least 1 of them....)

    They sound interesting lacuna.

On another note, even though I've reinstalled in (on another hard drive) it still gives me an instant reboot. :wallbash:

I know you've re-installed but have you tried starting a new game maybe theres something wrong with the saved game or does it not get that far before it crashes.

no, he's thinking read the thread.

hmm. perhaps drivers are borked? try removing mobo/graphics drivers and reinstalling. oh, and disable auto-rebooting in mycomp properties, so we can see what's actually causing the BSOD.

OK, turned off automatic rebooting (forgot about that  ) and here's the codes I get:

    0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x000000010F, 0xF1B3DCC8, 0x00000000)

on another note, I have a new sig:
When you run Microsoft Windows, you may randomly receive an error message on a blue screen...
