    ...

Looks Halo 3 with different hands in front of you and a different coloured HUD :/

That said. Nathan Fillion. Might have sold me a copy on that alone.

I've enjoyed all the Halo's, and i'm looking forward to this too, especially with the Sgt. Johnson upgrade, and the Halo Reach Beta too.

I have the same concerns as you do Joe. I love Halo, and think they are excellent fun, but this just seems to be a bit uninspired to me. The lighting effects look much better, the story is somewhat interesting and the whole open world aspect are great and all, but at the end of the day it is just Halo 3 again, but modified slightly.

Obviously, will be holding off judgement 'til I read some reviews and play it, but I don't have very high hopes.

I'm just thinking they are trying to hard to compete with other good games like Left 4 Dead and such. Maybe its time for Bungie to put the Halo Cash cow to sleep and stat something new? Maybe Olah?

I believe they said that after Halo: Reach, they were done with Halo (for now).

ODST looks kind of the same as Halo3.. only reason I'll probably pick it up is for the Reach beta.

Halo 1 was fantastic for its time. Halo 2 god crap ending and that's what made me mad and gave up on the whole Halo series.

they need to stop milking the dead cow. it's a good universe, the books bring a lot of details. but there's only so much you can do on the subject of aliens, earth and space rings.

however, different genre may be better. say a space RTS like Homeworld, or flight arcade styled game. or even play as elite in Prototype styled sandbox game

Well, hope they pull this off, in order to save the fancies, halo 1, and even halo 2 were both pretty fun, but I just didn't like halo 3 that much, single player was fun but multilayer just never impressed me.

Um, it is Halo 3. That's why things aren't all that different.

Just because it's a popular game people criticize it so much.

If you don't like the Halo series, well good for you. No need to go around shouting it in every single Halo thread.

Right, it's still a fantastic game now. :-D

I loved Halo and Halo 3, if they leave in some sort of Forge mode, then I'm sold.

I thought they were supposed to be stopping after Halo 3.
But I guess only an idiot stops after making a game that makes a bazzilion dollars.

Quite looking forward to a bit more single player/co-op Halo gaming, it's a fun universe. My flatmate will be buying solely for the multiplayer maps and the Reach beta however.

Wouldn't have co-opped the entire lot again with a mate was it not a good game, can't wait to get a 360, catch up with 3 and get this one. Only concern is the running time, hopefully it's not five minutes for the campaign like Halo 3 was (not that it mattered, picked it up for a fiver in an Argos offer).

I am a hater when it comes to FPS games on consoles, but even I have to admit that for it's time it was a freaking good game. I remember playing for a whole night in coop mode to finish the thing. At 6 am we were still up and then we went to play a game of basketball but all I could think about was to headshot people with MasterChief's handgun

Queue the point now where Gunsmith starts on the rant how Goldeneye on the N64 was the best FPS and how no other FPS' should have been made from that point on.

    Halo was awesome.

It was OK, IMHO. Great for co-op and fantastic by the standards of other console FPS games, but if judged on it's own merits and what it actually bought to the genre then it's hardly groundbreaking. There are far better games out there, which usually go unsung. The thing that Halo and subsequent games have really nailed is down to one thing - speed. Speed of plot and speed of movement. The rate at which you are able to turn and move and respond is just absolutely perfect for the control system.

the movements aren't though. I could walk faster backwards with both shoes tied to each other. Jumps were also ridiculously long lasting (sounds like a gum ad)
