Taken from http://www.bungie.net/News/Blog.aspx?mode=news#cid25967 This is most annoying as the time UK chaps will get this will be 6pm+ Any one else feeling the pain?
Meh, i don't find it frustrating at all. At least not in comparison to the fact that my 360 now keeps randomly freezing and is now out of warranty *shakes fist*. Was looking forward to this as well .
I just hope it brings back the game play of the original Halos (eg. The last chapter of Halo Legends) I <3 that fast paced carnage that only Spartans can dish out. If they follow the Reach story, coop might play a larger part in this than the other halos too, which is good in my opinion.
Official Release times are shown below thanks to http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx?postID=43634449
Super excited for this to come online. I'm also thanking my stars that I live in California, as I'll be playing this within the next couple hours. Anyways, I'll probably be on most of tonight with some of my buddies so if anyone is down for some games send me an invite. Gamertag: Infernal Carpt
Yeah I think it's the large volume of people logging on at once thats making the server availiability quite spurious. I really like it. The menu interface is much improved on and you can see there are more features to get added. The actualy game seems slower to me, just seems like the weapons shoot really slowly and your not ducking and diving to the same extent like in Halo 3. I like the armour abilities, they all have their uses depending on the map your on. Most folk seem to be using jetpacks but that seems to be more the coolness factor than anything. The active camo is annoying as it jams the radar too lol. Guard is great just for giving you a bit of time to get reinforcements in if your about to die. Jetpack is great on CTF maps as you can get to flag carrier quickly. Sprint is good if you have a hammer or sword and want to reach folk that bit faster. I like some of the new weapons but others I'm not keen on. I don't like the new rifle-I prefer the BR. The needle rifle is great though and I haven't got hold of a grenade launcher to test that out yet. I like how the armour, medals that pop up on screen and the menus seem a bit more rugged and worn and battle scarred. I do think the graphics are improved slightly, the game just seems like there is a bit more detail to give the game that rugged rather than polished look. Have had one game as an Elite and the diving and rolling is great fun, brilliant to just get out of the way of grenades or sniper fire.
Finally made it into Matchmaking this morning, did a few games of Grab Bag and 1 of Headhunter, of the two, i prefer Headhunter, was much more amusing. Read over for brief info on the two game types: Spoiler Grab Bag is pretty much capture the multiple flags, the more flags your team has, the more points you get. Spoiler Headhunter is very simple, slaughter your opponents and and collect the sculls, and drop them off in the marked zones. The more sculls, the more points, collect 10 sculls, and something happens, although i can't remember what. Sam
I managed to do 10 or so games last night, all of which pretty fun. I only saw 2 maps though? I thought there were 4?
I enjoyed it, then the plebs started playing it. So I've rage quitted on a more long term basis. Playing with journo's and the tech guys was fun... then the 12 year old code winners came on and now it's public... *sigh*
I'm guessing they are only letting us play a couple of maps and modes this week and then other maps and modes during second week of Beta so they can test code they want to.
Thats the fun of Halo, ripping the new one into whiny kids and then slagging then off in the post-game lobby. Nothing feels better than putting someone in their place.
Other two will be available when the other next palylists open, Overlook will be with the generator defense (they call it network test 1 ), and boneyard will be with invasion. Think they open around the 7th but bungie.net has details.
Wasn;t overly impressed with the selection of games I played, it was good but I didn't think it was amazing.
I'm going to have a crack at it tonight: saying that I'm sure to get my arse handed to me as playing an online shooter with a joypad is definitely not in my comfort zone.
