Well, it's available on xbox live right now, 1.4gb download. I must say, i'm very very impressed, played very well in my opinion, Graphics looked clean and crisp on my 40" Sammy. What are other peoples thoughts? Sam Halo Wars
i can't say i'm too fussed. i keep meaning to download it, but whenever i go to, i end up deciding not to. odd, as i've heard some good thing about it.
I wish I could download it and try it. But being only a silver member, MICROSOFT says NO!!. So it will be a few weeks before they release it to silver members. Crazy how MS only lets gold members get demos when they come out. All it does it makes me download the Sony PS3 version unless its not multiplatform like Halo Wars. I have not been very tempted to get a new gold sub for the last 4 months as the only game I play online is Halo 3 and I dont think its worth it for one game and to be able to download demos straight away.
Not really, while the xbox is similar to a PC, it's not the same, so you coudn't just code a game for the xbox, then re code 3 lines to make it work on the PC, it's a little more complicated, and would require a larger team to have it release on PC as well as xbox. I also think it's to contiune the Halo's movements as such, release on the console, wait a year or so and it will be available on PC, but i think Ensemble have said it's for xbox only, well, Bungie said that about Halo and Halo 2, and look what happened. Sam
Have to say after completing the demo the other night, im impressed with the game and the control system is alot better then i expected, i will be buying or renting this title that is for sure. However i do agree with alot of the comments here and believe it should have a PC version as that is the home of RTS games
If I compare the 360 version of RA3 and Halo Wars, HW is a bit simpler, RA3, while it has good controls, it's getting used to them that's the challenge. I think HW suits a console much better, even if RA3 has had it's control scheme totally redesigned. As Samkiller said, it's not so simple to port over to PC. Even more so with this, it just wouldn't be a very good PC RTS, it's good on a console, but as a PC one it would make C&C look deep.
The problem with RA3 is, you start with a game designed for PC, a system with almost unlimited potential, and then cram it onto a limited consol, that's why RA3/C&C 3 suffer on the 360, because of of the size of the game. Having now also completed the Campaign on Halo Wars, i'm much more impressed than i was when i first posted. Sam
After dominating the Skirmish demo I find it to be very addictive. I can't wait for the multiplayer 2v2 and 3v3 action.
Not a Halo fan and thus not really bothered about the release, however I do like command & Conquer style games so I think I will download it. The halo franchise in general seems to be highly targeted at "fan boys", and seems a difficult game to get into, if you haven't previously played the prequels.
Halo Wars is set 20 year before the events of Halo: CE, so, technically speaking, this is the first Halo. Sam
This is pretty much the truth, unless you're into the Halo universe it's not really anything too notable apart from the fact it works well on a console. I quite like the Halo universe though, read a few of the books, played all the games so far, so I'd like to see it for the story at least.
yeah. I never really cared for the Halo story. That goes into typical Sci Fi/Military story pile for me. Humans colonize in space. Humans come across alien race. Humans make contact. Aliens want to destroy humans. Throw in a hero, a few Marines, aliens and a war and you got Halo. I never read the stories so I don't know if they go in depth outside the Halo (game) storyline.
True for the most part, but something the deeper peek at the Covenant in Halo 2 (Playing as the Arbiter) made the story in Halo stand above your average sci-fi shooter. The interaction between the Arbiter and Master Chief (Having to work together) in Halo 3 made it even more enjoyable.
