Yep, I wanted a system that would allow me to change drives easily, should that one ever break - it is about two years old now!
And Hippo, yep, I'm using a standard automotive clear lacquer from UK's Halfords.
edit - oops, thought you were from US!

Excellent work as usual Kong! Is that one of your super secret fabrication tools on the window ledge behind your case?

total customization is the way to go! A lot of clear cases look kinda dull 'cause there isn't much to see inside that is different than most other cases. With this case, you'll actually want to look inside it!:D

    Awesome work Kong!

What kind of router and bits are you using? I saw the Dewalt router, but what model is it?

Does the acrylic melt using the router?

Welcome to the boards! Not sure on the exact model number or the router, but it's 1100w 1/4" collet and variable speed. Using mostly 1/4" straight bit, the acrylic hardly melts, unless you go too slow. Keep the router moving along, and it's fine. The beauty of the dewalt routers is the electronic speed control, it adjusts the power to the motor, to keep the spindle speed constant, unlike cheaper amchines which will slow down if you push too hard.

The case looks great. Did you finally manage to get that drill bit out, kong?

Nah, the drill bit stayed! Check page 4 for the faceplate that hides it!

adds character anyway... like those little capsules they would put in the keystone of an old building... out jumps a frog and sings "Hello my honey, hello my baby...hello my ragtime gal... send me a kiss by wi...." *yanked of stage*

Are you going to going to leave that faceplate partially bare? I think it would look better completely covered :worried:

I like that look personally, sort of follows the "see-thru" theme. Although you can see that ugly bit of cd case aluminium in that shot, in real life, when viewed from above, it doesn't show.

Eddie_Dane, you never fail to make me laugh!

That is an outstanding piece of work. I also like the original look: not many copper and acrylic cases out there. Quality stuff. :thumb: :dremel:
