Do you think Windows 7 would run smoothly on this set-up? AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Gigabyte GA-K8NMF9, Socket-939 Corsair 4GB DDR-DIMM XFX GeForce 6600GT 256MB 500GB Hard Drive Cheers
Perfectly well! I am using it at the exact moment with Windows 7 64-bit (it's my old computer put at my father place). Nothing overclocked. I have the same GPU but the 128MB version. My specs: -> AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.2GHz Socket 939 -> ASUS A8N32X-SLI -- Nvidia nForce 4 32XSLI -> Geforce 6600GT 128MB -> 4GB of RAM DDR1 400MHz -> SATA 250GB Western Digital 7200RPM HDD -> SATA Controller set to AHCI -> Windows 7 Pro 64-bit SP1 -> Dell U2410 No driver problem. Windows 7 found all the drivers. Graphic card drivers are from Nvidia. No trick or hacks needed. If you have a SATA HDD, I suggest to set your SATA Controller to AHCI BEFORE installing Windows 7 to support: eSATA, full performance of SATA controller, and Native Command Queue (NCQ) (Boost HDD performance during intensive tasks such as loading games, or starting Windows) Yes, it runs much faster than XP and faster than Vista 64-bit.
I have managed to run Win7 on a netbook with the following core spec: 8GB SSD (some trimming was needed to get it on there) Single-core 1.6GHz Atom 2GB RAM It worked perfectly and at a more than acceptable speed (better than XP in fact, thanks to SSD optimisations in Win7). That spec should be fine.
I run Win7 on a Fusion c50 netbook Dual core 1ghz, 1gb ram. Wee bit laggy at times, but if it can run on this, it can run on anything
i built my kids a couple of atom 330 based machines, and run win7 on them, they aren't the quickest machines, but are good enough for what they do on them
Yeah for sure, Im running W7 on a single core athlon 1 GB Ram and GeForce 6150 LE 64MB VRAM too, look at the system requirements for it, can run it with even lower
I am 1000% sure ... I had installed Windows 7 on Old P4 3GHZ 80 Gb, and the worst thing 512 MB DDR 1 RAM. It was working smoothly for basic use. But i was using it for internet surfing only. But you have great specs without any doubt go for it.
