Ive got a Maxtor 32049H2 Hard Disk (http://www.maxtor.com/products/DiamondMax/DiamondMaxVL/QuickSpecs/42079.htm) and i was copying files accross from one partion to another andi realised it took slightley over 10 minutes to copy 3.45Gb of mp3's from one drive to the other. I thought surely somethings wrong . Its definately an ATA100 board and cable so why is it so slow ?

Or im i just worrying about nothing and it probabley just is that slow ?

try runnin a benchmark program like sisoft sandra to see what kind of speed you get for your hdd...

or even try out the new 3dmark that is for apps only...

just to see whether that was way off, i did a test on mine...

took 8.3 mins to transfer 2.7gb from one partition to the other on my IBM Deathstar....

so i guess your should be fine, but then again i cant say whether ur hdd is a lot better on mine....

from partition to partition it will be slow cause ur limited by the rate at which the heads move, not from 1 disk to another which is in sync if its across 2 channels
