Made this on sunday afternoon. Its just a hard drive platter glued to a small aluminum container with a clock motor behind it. Took about 20 minutes. Thought I'd share it with some poor quality cell pictures.

^ I cut a little stand from the top cover of a old seagate drive, and put a leftover screw through one of the "warranty void" screw holes to make a hook to hang the clock on.

Also thought I'd stick up this pic I grabbed of one of my cats attacking my moms laptop. I think a fly landed on it, and she pounced on the keyboard, deleting a few emails...

The rare earth magnets from the drive are even more fun. (just keep them away from CRTs and pacemakers)

Cat on the intarnets :) Probably 'paw'ning cs noobs :duh:

I've got eight of those magnets and you can move them about through wood. I got my fingers caught between two snapping together and it bloody hurt!

I like the mod, you dont see those otherwise useless platters used for much. One of my computer teachers once took the platters and had them engraved with peoples names who ace'd the tests in his class. I also like the usage of the cover to the HDD as the stand, very original. :dremel:

I have a four MB hard drive somewhere so might do the same with that. Nice work.

Thanks for all the replies. Yes I was thinking about etching some numbers into it but I figured that would look terrible, so I'm going to swing by a craft store and get some stick on clock numbers, and use the 12, 3, 6, and 9 from the pack for it.
