PCWizard 2008 and SiSoft Sandra will both do it, free too.

It the program appears to freeze, give it time as it is scanning the hardware.

SiSoft Sandra is great, though for me it kills my pc when i try to look at cpu info (just instantly restarts the pc)

Cpu-z is also great, will tell you motherboard and ram specs.

One i always use is CPUZ as you dont have to have it installed it just runs from its own folder, handy for my repair work as it just keeps on a pen drive.

    +1

I use it for the same reasons, smaller, simple, and doesn't need installing.

+1, also use GPU-Z dose the same as CPU-Z but tells you about the graphics card. Great tool if you dont fancy ripping the case open to find out.

CPU-Z and speedfan, speedfan requires installing but its light and reports tempertures and fan speeds (only if there connected to a mobo header and the fan has a speed sensing cable.)

I second CPU-Z for looking up CPU, memory and motherboard info, but there's no other way than physically checking inside the case to see what fans are installed. :)

Whilst CPU-z is indeed very very good the SiSoft Sandra will give you a bit more info such as temperatures.

Just check all the software out, they are free!

Cpu-z is great, but the amount of information is limited.
I'd recommend Everest, far easier to use than Sandra in my opinion.
