Hmmmm, this is gonna be tough. In the beginning i was satisfied with my PC, i still am. But as my build progresses i feel sort of saddened to put the hardware i have already into it. It doesnt look very well. Also the look of it is kinda screaming to me that it needs up to date hardware to make it perfect. Thanks a lot mate. You gave me a lot to think about. I will return when ive read up on your suggestions and figured out what i might throw in it instead
Well, if you WANT to do a full upgrade and you're not interested in either USB3.0 or SATA 6G in the foreseeable future, then an LGA1156 (P5x/H5x chipset) build will fit the bill perfectly. If you need USB3.0 and/or SATA 6G, then an LGA1366 (X58 chipset) will be your best bet (unless you wish to go for an AMD-based solution ). Power efficiency will be slightly worse than with LGA1156. If you decide to stick with your current hardware for the moment, then any current Core2 quad CPU will be a viable upgrade for your motherboard. In any case you should consider a graphics card upgrade. Considering you're building a media center something like this or this (I've no idea what the actual difference is) might fit the bill, if there's sufficient air flow in the case.
