I was thinking about doing it, but you know if anybody has done it before?
should I do it?
I have seen somethign like that done before, i dont remeber who it was, but they had servos to control the movement of the head, and leds and mabye some bleep bloop sounds.
that guy kinda cheated imo. He just stuffed parts into a pre-bought r2d2, would have been better if he made it himself
Yeah I made R2s head for my Rogue 5 Project (see my sig) but not the whole thing. It would be cool.
There is one being built from scratch over at GruntvillE, he's just starting out with a 45 gallon plastic drum. But no complete ones built from scratch that I know of.
look what i found!
there are a lot of tutorials to build R2, i have to made a variant to fit a pc inside
Ok. I will post some pictures later, but I have started (and nearly finished) an R2d2 PC case for my son (it's 2/3 scale) From scratch meaning, using a round 12inch mixing bowl for the dome and sonotube as the body covered in sheet metal.... using the blueprints from the R2 group on Yahoo groups...
No pics now, but I will probably start posting it in the Projects section soon.
Did you ever finish?
here is a real r2d2 pc. Fully custom.
If you're gonna make one from scratch I recomend you build the body out of one of those old R2D2 shaped hoovers (vax?) with a metal bowl as the head.
