Im thinking about modding my Enermax powersupply. Nothing cosmetic as it can`t be seen, more mods from a practical point of view. First off I want to take off the grills, as the gold doesnt match the ally case, and they do little except impede airflow and make a noise. (Anyone want an 80mm and a 92mm set of gold fan grills? ) Next, I have noticed that the standard fans in the Enermax dont shift much air, so I want to swop them for some Panaflo units. With any luck this should drop the cpu temps a lil as the powersupply 92mm fan sits right above the cpu cooler. (also theres no way I`m taking a dremel to the top of my Lian-Li ) I was wondering if anyone had done something similar and if it was worthwhile or not? Thanks in advance
yup, done that, too. Altough I just ripped out the two noisy fans and replaced them with one Papst "almost silent" fan as exhaust. Modding the PSU was a piece of cake, just have a go at it. btw: I'd rather keep the fan inner fan grill in place (or swap it for some other color) as cabling getting in the blades of a Delta screamer can get messy...
yer me too-- replaced the 92 with a cage mounted 120 clear enermax one, and the 80mm with another clear enermax one, stainless websun grills from www.zxmods.com sheathed all the wires in black nylon sheath, shortened all the wires by pulling them inside the psu case and hid the p4 wires / aux conns inside the psu housing as well---one scweeet mother now-btw it is a 435w jobby-
it is quite easy to do--instead of cutting them----i am writing an article which will include said mod for my project tribal--will be completed in a couple of weeks i presume-
I ordered the new fans today ZzZaAkK - if you email me at: sco0by2k@yahoo.co.uk and gimmie an address, I`ll stick those 2 gold grills in a Jiffy Bag and post em to you on monday
those P4 connections are a nice handy 12v supply for fanbus and such. A buncha molex splitters and pass-thru's add up to a rat's nest quickly.
