Ok so it was just an idea has anyone ever thought about or attempted to build a car amp.? for a sub ?
Homemade amps really aren't the hard part, its getting the voltage to power the amp is the problem. 12v into 2 ohms is 6 amps. 6 amps * 12 v is 72W, so the most you could get from 12v, above that and you need a DC-DC converter/SMPS. Not easy things to build.
And that's Peak Power with no transistor losses. Typical car radio amps go to about 25W RMS max with the engine running. TDA2005 and TDA7240 ICs make easy car amps, but only 20W RMS claimed.
the easies soultion would be to take the electronics from a 12-230V inverter and make a basic amp after that. it will probably need some noise filtering, tough. Switch mode PSU's aren't the easiest thing to work with.
If you go to www.caraudio.com they have a forum there I have been a part of for quite a while. A number of folks there have built their own car audio amps. Most are not very powerful and some have become rather costly projects. If you can manage to get ahold of a guy by the name of JLaine he would probably be one of the best to help you with that particular project. (his knowledge in the field is untouched by many)
well i want to make a amp just like this one i need the output identical to http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Infi...19281/catOid/-13095/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
To build an amp comparable to that... will take a good deal of $ as well as be pretty massive. It would probably honestly be easier to buy an amp and mod the exterior of it, if you are looking for something to be custom.
To put it simply, if you don't know enough to need to ask, you don't have the skills to build a car amp. They're really complex. I wouldn't try it.
