I stumbled upon this site after watching The God Who Wasnt There (pretty good film, great ending for a documentary. Its in the style of a michael more doc.) and trying to find more about the Ressurection of Jesus and its similarities to older folklore and how easter was first practiced in 2400BC. Anyway, all i have to say that most of this sites awnsers to life are about as devout christian as you can get. The entire sites awnsers give blunt no's and yes's with long explanations on why you should believe them, but thats not my problem with the site..they have there own beliefs and there own awnsers right? (as wrong as i think they are..they can still have them.)

After browsing the site and laughing my ass off most of the time i came across the movie review section of the site. This has to be the most funniest thing i have ever seen in the history of The Internet. I'm sure all of you know a person(and some of you might even be that person) who hates the filth in media and always tries to bring in christian religion to any and every medium possible. Those are the people who review this site and i'll give you an example of why its so wrong and hillarious.

For those of you who have seen The Lord of War, here is a little scene involved in the movie and i will give there review of it after i've explained it.

Yuri is in the bussiness of selling guns, and after making a deal with an african dictator he is given two presents that are left in his room. These presents are two african women (very hot i might add) who are there to sleep with Yuri, but Yuri has a problem with this.

Thats the basic explanation, i'll give you there review of the scene and then what actually happened in the movie.

"One redeeming scene shows Yuri in a hotel room after he has just made a deal with African warlord Andre Baptiste, Sr. (Eamonn Walker). In his room are two women who have been given to Yuri as a gift, and they are dancing very seductively. It’s obvious Yuri can have his way with them, but even though he is tempted, he refuses their offer. Yuri says he can’t, and we can infer it is because he has recently married his Dream Girl, Ava Fontaine (Bridget Moynahan). Unfortunately, while Yuri has this moment of fidelity, it is unfortunate to not see that this is something consistent with his character."

Now, there is one big reason why Yuri did not sleep with those women, and its not because of his wife (this fact is stated very heavilly in this scene and he sleeps with other women throughout the movie). The reason he doesnt sleep with them is because 1 in 4 of the people in the area he is in has aids.

Thats just a small thing from one of the reviews, you should go check out the others because i bet you would get a decent laugh out of how they explain things, the user reviews are even funnier.

"Negative - My fiance and I went to see this movie on opening day. The number of f-bombs dropped within the first 30 minutes of the movie is absolutely incredible. Also within this small segment, you see drug use, premarital sex/nudity (with God's name used in vain during the scenes!) My fiance and I left the theatre. No Christian should see this movie. My Ratings: [Extremely Offensive/2½]
    —James, age 19"

or the User Review for The 40 year old virgin.

"saw about 30 minutes of this film with my wife. The audience thought much of the disgusting humor was actually funny. I'm not sure if this movie says more about Hollyweird or about us as a society. I'm ashamed that they would show this garbage. Luckily we didn't pay anything to see this trash. I pretty much expected what we got though. The "flesh" in me did actually think some of the jokes were slightly funny at best. My spirit wanted to throw up, however. If you want something that cuts the edge into porn for the "regular" theater then this is your film if you care to waste your time on a film that has no redemption from the start. Any other brother or sister that reads this yet sees the film anyway can't say you weren't warned. My Ratings: [Extremely Offensive/1½]
    —Bob C, age 41"

I guess all i have to say is i laughed my ass off reading alot of the stuff on there site, and i cant believe that there are so many people who still act this way. I'm sure some of you are on this site, but jeesus, lighten up will you.

Edit: Head on over to the review of "War of the Worlds" and read some of there reviews. One women even was surprised that they didnt have a warning for language because "The lords name was used in vein".(WARNING, COURSE LANGUAGE) Jesus Christ thats horrifying :/

I really like the DVD they have advertised. "Harry Potter: Witchcraft Repackaged" What’s the truth about the extremely popular Harry Potter book series and movies that have captivated millions of children. Many Christian parents and religious groups have expressed concern? In this eye-opening movie, experts reveal the dark side of Harry Potter’s promotion of witchcraft.

That's the internet for you: everyone gets to say their bit. Including less enlightened fanatics. That's the price of freedom of speech however, and a small one to pay.

However it would be wrong to think of this site (or its frequent visitors) as representative of Christians in general, or any other religious group. I'm saying this because although most of us like to just have a laugh at a naive site like this and move on, some people may feel tempted to generalise and use it as an opportunity to bash people's religious beliefs (or lack thereof).

So I'm posting this as a request, based on experience. I have no problem with people commenting on that site specifically in this thread, but please no religion bashing. We've been there before several times: discussions turned nasty pretty quickly and we had to close the threads. The only reason I'm not slamming the gates on this one is because I believe that we do, in the end, have a sensible and mature membership who are able to respect this request and just have a laugh.

For people who are so against that film they sure have a detailed breakdown of just about every scene in the film and counted every profanity. I mean that would take watching this film several times right?? WTF? "Evil. Yet. Can't. Help. Watching."

Yea i noticed this, and in alot of the reviews they just seemed to get it..wrong. They would twist things into there own religious ways (like the Lord of War review i showed). The first post i made was NOT to bash christianity however, it was to show that site and that sites followers only and how funny they were. I agree that NO one should start bashing christianity, especially in this thread that was made to have a laugh, no matter how much you think its wrong.

It's cool DivineSin, I know your intentions are pure. :) My post was just a word of... well, urging contemplation to some potential posters who have hit the religion-bashing trail before.

I'm betting if the Lord of The Rings reviewers had read The Silmarillion the movie wouldn't have been recommended.

As extreme these people’s views are, you gotta give them credit for having enough will power to say what they believe. They might have a good point saying modern society is corrupt, if you showed a lot of the stuff we see to even people a few generations back, it would not be accepted like it is now. Some of the things we find normal, could have been punished severely. So all I gotta say, is you should think about what these people say before you bash their views. They may be extreme, but it's not necessarily all bad, and I'm sure the morals behind a lot of what they say are right. I know I'd rather have a lot of radical christens in my neighborhood, then a gang of poorly raised, thugs, or possibly worse, that can a lot of times be caused by parents not censoring the media their children see. At least the christens would be all about doing good stuff, and not busting into peoples cars and stealing stuff, or brandishing weapons like in popular movies.

By the way, personally, I don't believe a lot they say but they have a point in a lot of it, and you may not think about it, but its there, and its better then a lot of things you could be bashing. But I have to say, I do enjoy a good couple hours of Pulp Fiction, or Requiem for a Dream, without whining over the drug use and violence.

My problem is that, as you say, they are extreme. They may not be stealing cars and waving guns, but history has taught us that people with extreme views, whether or not based in Christianity, can do some frightening stuff given half the chance... :worried:

    ~cough~ Inquisition ~cough~

    ~cough~ GTA: Hot Coffee ~cough~ :D

~cough~ Bush cutting stem cell research money ~cough~

    ~cough~ Views on cloneing ~Cough~

But seriously, its alot worse than stealing cars and killing people. Technically by cutting the funding for stem cell research and alot of things to do with cloneing and whatnot your probly killing more people than a gang member would.

i was reading the review on willy wonka, and they mentioned something about drinking, and they linked a study that suggested children that see drinking almost always drink themselves (although my dads a drunk and i will never drink), funny how they are all down with the science blasphemy when it supports their biases, but when it says that the earth is older than 6000 years they're all "no, i can't hear you!!!" [covers ears] "lalalalalalalalalalala!!! iiiicannnnnnnn''''''''''ttttttthearrrrrryoouuuuuuu!!!!"

people this far gone preach that jesus is love but they don't think that should extend to them. they are racist, sexist, homophobic pigs that almost make me want to be a black gay jewish woman so i could seduce their virgin (ha! i bet!) daughters to the dark side of "loving thy neighbor" and "judge not, lest ye be judged" and all the other lies some gay loving hippie communist said... oh wait... that was jesus...

The problem is when religious fanatics base their beliefs on misinformation.

Upon closer examination the bible doesn't say that the earth is 6,000 years old. It says that humankind has been on earth for about that long. Not the earth...

The bible also says that we are to love our neighbor (doesn't matter who) as ourselves. Being imperfect, as they are too, this can be a hard task. But some people though, like I mentioned before, base what they believe on misinformation.

Like you pointed out about people being hypocritical. If you believe in the bible do all that it says and not what you pick and choose. And just like most of society/religion today things seem to apply to everyone else. It takes alot to make sure we're doing what we should be doing.
