I just picked up another nf7-s yesterday and noticed that its changed slightly from my one thats a year or so old. Most of the connectors are fancy colours now like blue & purple, also there is a slightly different NB HSF. The new NB HSF is very similar but looks like its a little better quality than the original.... that doesn't take much. As far as I can tell the components and placement are the same though. So did they slightly modify this board or did they just feel the diarrhea brown circuit board wasnt quite ugly enough?
The only significant revisions were going from 1.x to 2.0 whereby 400FSB was officially supported courtesy of the updated nForce2 chipset (Ultra400). So if they're both the same revision it's most likely just a cosmetic change, apart from the NB fan which must have failed in too many cases, it always was disgustingly dire. So regarding the cosmetic changes, perhaps they moved factories and this is how the new factory does it, maybe they have implimented a colourful / colour coded scheme throughout their whole range of mobos or maybe they wished to impliment a slight redesign for some odd reason.
I'll see what I can do about pics... anywhere I can stick photo's so i can make a link? Isnt there something like photobucket.com or something? As for the revisions... they're both NF7-S Rev 2.0. I've heard the newer NF7-S's Rev 2.0 o/c a bit better than the older ones. Unfortunately i wont be able to compare directly since my last nf7-s didnt clock worth a dam cause of the memory thing.
I know exactly what you mean, and yes it has changed slightly in the colour stakes. I had an NF7-S v2.0 last year, and sold it, but just got another last month. The visual changes did strike me, the DIMM slots/IDE ports are coloured instead of black, and the NB sink fan now has more blades, and the sink itself seems slightly more robust, it's no longer just a rebadged Vantec Iceberq. Though saying that, I have had it making odd noises at me, where the old one never did (apart from the horrific whine, which seems to have improved too)
