hope they are good!
I just brought an i3 haswell!
This has potentially changed my build for a client and made my options much better. Thanks
£105 for an i3 - you can get an FX6300 series for £20 less and an FX8300 for similar money!
intel sure know how to milk its fan base
Power efficiency comes at a price, it seems...
just bought a fx-6300 for a home server and dev platform etc. Cracking value I think. Will be running esxi 5.0 on it and playing with virtual machines
But originally I was planning on using an i3 haswell for a less interesting version... (this way makes me happier as I can use esxi and send a snapshot of the site to production platform as well as a bunch more stuff for fun)
It's worth bearing in mind too that more and more games are requiring a quad core CPU to be playable, and this will become pretty standard as the next gen games start appearing. i3 systems are great for older CPU intensive games (World of Warcraft, Starcraft II, etc.).
SC2 isn't well optimized (see learning from you teppic ) - no scaling above a dual core - and wow has shifted over to being gpu limited , large view distances and DX11 effects now beg for a fast gpu
The trouble with WoW is that in really intense moments like large raids it hammers the CPU - even an overclocked 4770K struggles and can't reach 60fps. With normal play any recent CPU is fine though.
I wouldn't mind seeing some reviews on these.
its also another poor cpu optimization - 2 1/2 main threads , and with any ability to offload sound then its 2 main threads ; blizzard need to do something about the game engines tbh and new cpu`s.
Older games also don't make use of the new CPU instructions. Ones that rely on the old Intel FPU tend to run really badly on AMD CPUs (that's why Super PI is such a pointless benchmark).
Could get interesting, depends on the HD5100 (and Pro HD5200) capabilites.
Me either! I did a quick Google search earlier but I couldn't find anything.
I cant find anything either. Im wondering if this is a duel core powerhouse or or just an overpriced duel core lol
It'll be basically the same as Ivy Bridge i3s but with better integrated graphics. Intel doesn't really bother to compete at the lower end of the market, they still sell well because of the strength of the brand.
And they'll have them locked down tighter than a gnat's chuff. Treat em mean, keep em keen !
But yes, on a more serious note, AMD own the budget end of the CPU world now.
Well they're going to be 10% or so faster than the Ivy I3s I would imagine.
