I am running the following rig as a test at the moment: Asus Maximus VI Impact Haswell i3 1 SSD 1 2.5" HDD 2 120mm fans HD 5770 This runs fine on my FSP 300W SFX PSU borrowed from my SG05. Will it still be OK if I change to a 7850? I have looked at an online power calculator [eXtreme Power Supply Calculator Lite] which says 260W with 7850. I will be looking to get a 400W Be Quiet or 450W Silverstone non modular SFX PSU when budgets allow.
Lol. It's getting', it's getting', it's gettin' kinda hectic... So got to get me some of that "Amerikanskaja firma Tranceptor Technology pristupila k proizvodstvu computrov 'Personalny Sputnik'" action; that's what's missing in my build. It certainly seems to be doing the trick for Boot Sector and his fab Felix build And in other news, it looks like I have 14A on 12v1 and 16A on 12v2 rails, which seems a lot for a 300W PSU.
http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/FSP300-60GHS-Power-Supply-Review/757/6 According to that review the PCIe connector has a whole +12V rail (+12V2, 16A) to itself. So aslong as the graphics card doesn't require more than 16A then you can use whatever graphics card you want. A slightly limiting factor is the single 6pin nature of that PCIe connector.
