I'm with Pookey... I never prime or spi mine, I just game. A lot. If it passes what I want it to, bugger all.
520W OCZ Powerstream, PSU aint an issue Gonna give 3d a go tonight... If its ok with that then will give SP2004 a miss!
Try playing with Max Async Latency and Read Preamble. My opty also has a wierd thing where it doesn't like a tras lower then 10... Optys tend to 100-200mhz more, "kind of stable", past their 100% stable settings. I could game at 2.95ghz, but for prime95 its 2.8ghz 1.5v, and nothing more. 1.6v just turns my comp into a portable heater - gets about 2820mhz - heh not really worth it.
Cheers mate, the tras thing worked a charm (well it was either that or playing with TRC....) but its the breakthrough that was required 300*9 3,4,4,x 1:1 ran prime for 9 hours last night, bombing out after 9 hours on some stupidly large fft test. Upped LDT voltage to 1.5, and HTT to 305, so see how long it runs for this time
Seems TRC/TREF and Idle Cycle were the root cause... Made 12 hours last night at 300*9 1:1 3,4,3,8 gave up and stopped it this morning Timings and CPU speed are still poo tbh, really wanna ring 2.8 out of it....
Have you customized all the RAM settings highland3r? If so, do ye know of a decent guide to help me out, i'm too much of a nub to know what they all do.
Pretty much yea. Some were from a guide, and some are home grown tweaks which seem to work quite well together. Will post some links when I get home, and stick up an A64 tweaker shot of the current settings.
A64 screeny Thread 1 Thread 2 Good tref guide There you go mate, have a ganders at the above. Thats where most of the info came from, along with a little bit of hard work and fiddling...
Cheers, i'll give it a fiddle - I'm having trouble getting this stable at 240HTT, which is very strange for this RAM, CPU and mobo, so I'm assuming it's one of the auto-set timings for the RAM buggering it up.
What settings are you running atm? Grab an A64 tweaker shot, that'll tell you what all the auto's are defaulting too. @ Shadowed: Tried tighter timings, but windows memtest errors. Anything above 300 = no go too, as is 300 running the 180 mem divider... Prime failed after ~ 4 hours last night (despite using the same settings as for 1:1) It's a really strange chip/mobo thats for sure lol probably missing something obvious though tbh!
I wonder if its the memory. Have you got anything similar you can borrow? Maybe your board doesn't like it? Can't see it being the chip tbh.
As I've just noticed, and unless i've gone mad - it's running a divider as well. I've tried slacking off to 3,3,6,3. But with no avail. Tried a jump in core and tried various mem voltages too. I'll have a play with the settings after reading the guides/links you posted to when i've got more time. [edit]Just grabbed a CPU-Z screeny too: Very strange. :\
Ok, you're running 1:1, the memory speed is derived from the CPU speed on A64's You should be able to push higher with slacker timings, TCCD can sometimes not like cas3 though, so it maybe worth trying with cas 2.5. What ram voltage/LDT mutlipler are you using atm also? Have you tried upping "FSB" with a lower multi (ie 8*) just to make sure its not the CPU maxing.. Finally, try settings a drive strength to weak and see if that helps at all. <edit> Also set TRC to 7 or 12 these seem best for TCCD, might also be worth trying 10, as it worked well here </edit>
Ah right, I see. That's a nifty feature about RAM speed. I've tried 2.5, but it gave me a cold boot, so I assumed TCCD hated CAS 2.5. ATM I've got the CPU on 9 LDT, HTT multi's down at 3x to make sure it's not buggering up. I've got the RAM set at 2.8, though it undervolts to around 2.76-2.78. I haven't tried lowering the CPU multi, I was told (with screenies) that this chip does 2.7 @ stock, so I assumed it could take it, but I'll give that a try too. I'll give it a good going over tonight, once I've got some spare time to burn. Cheers for the help Highland3r, much appreciated.
Drop the ram voltage, try working up from 2.5 and see how it goes... TCCD here likes 2.6 + 0.02, bro's EL Rev2 runs best with 2.5v... Increasing makes things more unstable. Also try playing with LDT voltage, you'll be safe with 1.5v and it might help things. On another note, LDT multi of 4 might help you too... Ran to ~ 305 HTT @ 4* during testing and it helped with stability a little You will probably need to increase LDT voltage to keep things stable though 1200 HTT is a tad over recommended
