righteous extermination? If we keep the course of this thread up, we'll be in the news soon as some VP will hear about it and makes another try at closing teh intarwebs
Ever hear of "guilty extermination"? "You look troubled, mein Fuhrer. Wass ist los?" "Ach, I just feel kind of guilty about gassing all those Jews... Perhaps we are going a bit too far here..."
ah, so we are back to the issue of viewpoint i think this is all an elaborate ploy to make the chinese look like asses during the olympics. right now some elite japanese corporates are having sushi and sake with the prince
The're gonna need more expensive segways if they want to carry bigger guns & more ammo, and then there is the need to be able to get over & under collapsed structures, go through mud, dirt, sand, etc... i don't see segways as an option, except for exterminating protestors or something like that.
Bomb squad suits are simply not designed to be walked in, plus all the weight is on the front, it's to too hard to counteract that weight on your back, but one your front it's a lot harder once you go over a certain weight. All joking aside this is actually quite a good idea for urban environments. I really doubt they're going to be going along on their segways trying to shoot people, more realistically they're for getting from point A to B quicker without needing large transport, when they get to the situation, they (shock horror), stop and get off. Means they get there faster and they don't tire themselves out by having to run there.
another much-quoted advantage is that policemen (ok, ok, and policewomen) are standing a bit higher, meaning they have a better view of what's happening around them and are more visible to the public. What police forces around the world seem to miss is that standing on one of these you look like an absolute tosser that has lost touch with reality. Also, one of these is just bound to run out of juice halfway inside the city. I just can't wait for the first fail-shots of officers pushing the unit back to the station instead of doing his work.
For Kids and teens yeah, even maybe for the grown-ups but for police officers wow... Why not get a scooter?
If the Segway wasn't so expensive, I could see massive paintball gun fights. Slap a thin plexi shield on the front and just wail on each other. Sort of a new millenium paintball cavalry. Would be fun. John
