    Any advice?

I know i have to use something thin so i got a needle but i cant find the clips to release like on the molex connectors. Where are the clips? On two sides? or on just one? Do i stick the needle in from the side that connects to the mobo? :wallbash:

    TIA

the clips are normally on both sides, but can be on just one. They are not facing any particular direction, because they can be turned around.

You could try using a thin pair of tweezers etc.

    diagram of the clips
    Code:
                | <-- cable
                |
              [ | ] <-- Inside of Atx Connector
                |/ <-- clip
                |

or it can be like this
    Code:
                | <-- cable
                |
              [ | ] <-- Inside of Atx Connector
               \|/ <-- clip
                |

hope that give you the idea. You could always try pushing the cable towards the ATX connector to move the clips away from the inside of the ATX connector (where the clip catches).

There was a thread not too long ago that showed how to use a normal Pen to remove the ATX pins..

    I can't find it though.

Otherwise in the US Radioshack has the tool.

get a small blade screwdriver, like from a watchmaker's kit, and bend the tab in, then bend it back out after the connector is removed.

A thin wired paperclip always worked best for me.

you can also get a pipe that fits exactly around the molex, and slide it over it, and then pull the power plug out from the back end. the pipe will depress the tabs enough. should. might be a snug fit, though.

Thanks all, Got it mastered now. I have tried all the above suggestions (except the tool) and found that a paperclip worked best. However i had 2 sizes of paperclip. One was slightly too big to go all the way down the side of the pin and the smaller one was too malliable. So i have ended up making the larger paperclip thinner using my bench grinder. :thumb:

    Thanks again.
